Preseason Roundtable: Team MVP

Our preseason roundtable is finally closing up shop, but first we are going to address one last question. Without further ado...


Who will be the team MVP?

Alan: Darius Johnson-Odom. When he averaged 13.3 ppg and shot over 50% from deep in the 2009 Old Spice Classic, I knew we had something special. By the end of his Marquette career, I expect DJO will have scored more in three years than Dominic James, Travis Diener, Wesley Matthews, or Steve Novak did in four years. My prediction is that he will pass the great George Thompson and finish as Marquette's third all-time leading scorer. I think he's in for a 2003 D-Wade type season. 20+ ppg, 5+ rpg, and even 3-4 apg. Put the rest of the NCAA on notice: DJO is coming.

Dr. Blackheart: DJO. He was tearing it up in Carolina this summer, and the motivation factor is there for the NBA, especially with the jump Jimmy took. It looks like he improved his pull-up range rather than always trying to force it to the hole. He had a slow start on trey shooting last season for whatever reason, but I expect his archer's touch to return.

James: DJO

John: DJO will be voted the team MVP, but I believe it will be a close call as to whether or not he or Jae Crowder will get my vote. In fact, I would not be surprised if Davante Gardner emerges as a surprise candidate.

Kevin: DJO. Enough said.

Rob: It'll be DJO in the mind of most fans. Scorers win awards. But I'm pretty sure the player that will make the most significant contributions will be Crowder.

Tim: DJO. For this team to meet or exceed expectations, he'll need to be dominant. He will be.
