I want this quote to serve as a reminder to the vast majority of scoop posters in regards to the MU BB program.

Newest rumor I heard from KC sports radio was WVU to big 12, ND and BYU to Big 12 in all sports but football.

Would that save the conference?

The interesting part is the Mizzo hasn't even left yet.

I refuse to believe that ND is going anywhere until dissolution of the Big East is imminent.

Despite what they've said publicly, if the Big Ten or ACC received an LOI from Notre Dame in today's mail saying "everything but football," either one would sign it so fast it would set the paper on fire.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

The B10 won't take ND in everything but football.  Did you mean B12?

Clam Crowder

I'm with Benny on this one, I don't see Notre Dame leaving until the very end. It's becoming more and more obvious that someone (an AD, or President) in a b-ball only school needs to present the idea of the catholic league. There are some great teams out there that we could get to join a league like this, and as long as the NCAA stays intact after all this I think it is the perfect solution.

Actually, John Swofford who is commissioner of the ACC just last week told ND that it was "all or nothing" for the ACC which might explain the new rumors about ND to the Big 12 for all but FB..

The worst part of that article that no one here has mentioned is that the Big 12 is considering going to 16 with Lville and Cincy likely getting invites in 2013.

This has been the reason many who want the Big East to go basketball only NOW, as opposed to trying to satisfy the few remaining football teams, by add a bunch of crap football/basketball programs like SMU, ECU, Houston, etc.

It is only a matter of time before Lville and Cincy bolt too....why try to hold on to the false hope that they would stay in a conference with the likes of Navy, Army, ECU..etc., when they likely will get invited to a conference with Texas, Oklahoma, etc...

It won't be all-catholic, so its less cringe-worthy.  it'll just be private and basketball-centric.

I had Dr. Crane in the evenings: all the eccentric, none of the hyper... the most "interaction" we ever got out of him was throwing a dry-erase marker around once in a while (unfortunately, his aim was horrible and I think he forgot to put the cap back on before throwing it once or twice).

ND cares too much about their Olympic sports to be duke-ing it out with Dayton & Xavier.

The Catholic Conf scares me because I don't trust all the Catholics to stay.  Nova flirted with BCS, ND knows they can do better.  GTown could start football tomorrow if they wanted.

Probably true. Great. We can form a conference with Creighton and Detroit Mercy and St. John's.

To follow this up again, both the B10 and ACC have told ND flat out that it would not accept them under a hybrid model.

And again... I will state that despite what the B1? and ACC have said publicly, if either had an Olympic commitment from ND put in front of their greedy little paws right now, I firmly believe that either one would be sketching out the addition of ND to their conference logo within the hour.  Given the amount of "say one thing but do another" we've seen in college sports over the past few years, it's a pretty good bet to just ignore guys like Delany and Swofford when they know the camera is on.

But if you believe that either one of those two would hesitate for even a single minute if Rev. Jenkins slid an iron-clad contract across his desk to them, then you're ten times crazier than you think I am.

I think the BEast basketball teams totally understand this.  Frankly, the faster Lville and Cincy get their invites to a BCS football conference, the faster this gets done.  The day Pitt and Syr announced their departure, I 'welcomed' my good friend who serves as an administrator at Butler to the new BEast.  While that was done in jest and while I understand that Butler might not be the #1 choice, the point still stands.

Sorry, but you are simply wrong.  Not sure about the ACC, but ND has already approached the B10 with that deal and they turned them down.  It makes sense....ND really doesn't bring all that much besides their football program that adds considerable value.  Furthermore, the B10 has too much pride (vanity, whatever you want to call it) to give special treatment to one member - it is something they value strongly.  Everyone is treated equally.  In fact, one of the reasons it took so long for ND to decide what conference to join for hockey is because it wanted into the B10 hockey conference...and they were turned down.

I have heard the above from people in two seperate B10 athletic departments.  So you can chose to believe me or not.

With the average win total of 24 per year over the last 18 years, including 16 NCAA Tournament wins since 2000, 4 Sweet 16s since 2003, and located in the best media market (that so happens to be the home of the NCAA and regular Final Four host) of thepertinent list, it is not only the most suitable choice for performance on the court but also the business side of a league that's going to need some new points of sale.

Side note: Xavier has the 13 wins.  The rest either have none or a typical 1st weekend of the tournament for Xavier and Butler.
