The more football only members the better...that way basketball can't get diluted any further.

I agree, I'd gladly take the service academies. Do we need all three? I'm not sure. I'd love a 10-team football league and 19-team basketball. Add Air Force and Navy as football-only, Temple and either UCF or Memphis as full members, and Xavier, Butler, and Dayton as basketball-only. That'd be my perfect world.

I think all three would be a very good idea. I cannot see why any basketball only fan would complain about this. I do not care about Big East football, but I want to keep aBig East football teams. This if it happens is a win win.

Bylaw Blog had an interesting point on his Twitter account earlier.

To be an NCAA recognized FBS conference, you need 8 FBS members who play 6 men's and 8 women's sports in the conference. Just adding football schools may not be the solution.

All the more reason to add two full members and two football-only schools.

6 and 14 right now...

6 + three service academies = 9 + 3 full members (Temple, and two of UCF/ECU/Memphis) = 12 football

14 + 3 full members = 17 basketball, where we were planning to be next year and before the exits.

Football losing one good program (two counting TCU) and one bad one, adding three to five decent programs.  Basketball loses two good programs and if you count TCU one bad one, adds one or two good programs and one or two bad ones.  If they avoid further pillaging it becomes a pretty nice football conference and if Temple and Memphis are in basketball is barely weaker.  I can live with this, and would prefer it over the bball-only conference so long as we don't go further down the list...if we have to replace Louisville and WVU with Houston and SMU it would have to be game over for the basketball schools.
