Right now it is a 7 vs 7 vote and ND off the table unless they get a vote.  I still say go for it

MattyWarrior

I'm so sick of this crap, get all hyped up about the bball season and they crap all over it.
its starting to get the feel of pro sports.

Is it? Doesn't Villanova still think they can play D1, and thus want the football schools around to get their chance?

I would love it if the basketball schools told the waffling football schools to f*ck off and left.
I would not for several reasons. The biggest would be to disband the conference and we would not receive any buyout money and Pitt & Syracuse would be able to join the ACC next year. I really would like to keep it together and force Pitt & Syracuse to play another two years in Big East. The other possiblity would be that the league does not disband and then MU has to pay a buyout fee. Either way Mu is better off financially keeping the league together, even if it is a short amount of time. Also, whatever happens, I hope this drags out to after the fall signing date. I rather have our incoming recruits believe they will play at least two years in current Big East than to all of a sudden have to consider if they want to play in a basketball only conference.

The not having to pay a buy out is a good point.  However, the buy outs from Pitt and Syracuse are going to end up being less than $1M for MU.

I think the Big East stays together. They said they agreed to stay together, they supposedly made a mutual agreement. I am sure that this mutual agreement if signed holds some penalties (monetary perhaps) for those that do not follow what they said they would do. Villanova will not play D1. Here's to hoping

In a completely selfish way, I would like to see Villanova play one good D1 BCS team. They would get utterly destroyed and it would put an end to their foolishness.

nothing was signed. The BE is done, wether it is this year or two years from now, the football schools want out.

By the way, hope is not a strategy.

Ok 79, if you have something more effective that we fans can do other than hope, let us know. Its all we can do.

Move on from what? Nothing has hapened yet, %90 percent of this is speculation. Jhags has some hope, so do I, and I'm sure many others do.

Yep, I hope that we're the dumpers instead of the dumpees.

Agreed.  At best we will be in some sort of CUSA-like conference with East Carolina and Central Florida.  Not interested.

I would rather be in a conference with other bball schools like Georgetown, Villanova and St. Johns.  And if it means giving up the BE name and the MSG tournament, that is fine.  New traditions can be established.  Life moves on.

ABSOLUTELY, THIS HAS TO HAPPEN.  For all involved.  I'm sure Hoya Saxa, 'Nova, and the Johnnies would agree.  Might as well throw in PC, Seton Hall, and DePaul (I know, I KNOW.) as well.
