Missouri has an offer from the SEC to join their conference.  The SEC is willing to wait for Missouri to make decesion until the Big 12 is settled.

Key element:  Missouri's chancellor is chairman of the Big 12's Board of Directors and has vowed to keep the Big 12 together.

So was Pitt's.   ?-(

Actually may be better for MU.

If SEC takes Mizzou n Tam they are at 14.  Lessens the whole big12 by one more and makes them less viable as their own entity.  Making the PAc 16 look even more attractive to texas, tt, ok, n ok st.

Thus leaving the remainder to join BE along with Memphis.

People rip on memphis but they are a top 10 team. and would help offset the loss of Pitt an Syr.   heck Memphis has been more successful than PItt.  I know the "other" issue with Memphis but few people across the country know or care.

Now UT, A&M, TTech, OU, OSU, and Mizzou could potentially vote to officially disband the Big 12 and avoid paying any exit fees.

That would also be good for us. My worry would be that they do not disband and take only football teams from Big East.

So, assuming UConn and Rutgers are goners ....

New League

* = Football member

East
Georgetown
St. John's
Seton Hall
Providence
Villanova*
Cincinnati*
USF*
Louisville*
West Virginia*
Xavier

West
Marquette
Notre Dame
DePaul
Kansas*
Kansas St.*
Iowa State*
Memphis*
Baylor*
TCU*
Houston*

Not sure how to set up a hoops schedule or where to hold the conference tyourney. Maybe a rotation among 4-5 sites (Chicago, New York, KC, Houston, Philly).

LAMUfan

If you can hold in NY every year as it has been, you do that.  The big east tourney at MSG is one of the best sporting events period.  Anything else would be plan B

Wouldn't mind leaving out Houston and UCF, but a championship game is going to be desirable for the football teams, and you need 12 teams for that.

You forgot West Virginia. Reports are that they have been denied by the ACC and SEC. I have a hard time believing Kansas gets left out of all this as well. The B1G, ACC or SEC will pick them up somehow.

This is all too confusing until that gets figured out, along with Notre Dame staying Indy or not.

I think people are ripping on Memphis football. They are really bad! Is one of the worse teams in Conf. USA and attendance is very bad.
If we are all thinking alike, we're not thinking at all. It's OK to disagree. Just don't be disagreeable.
