I'm not sure I would be rooting for PC to come back and be strong in the Big East.

NOVA, VILL, PITT, UCONN, CUSE, are always going to be really strong more then likely.

WV, ND, MU, GTOWN, CINCY, Will be strong year to year it looks like.

ST JOHN, RUTGERS, They are upgrading talent fast and look to be strong moving forward

DEPAUL, TCU, PROV, SFL, HALL, I'm not sure I want to see any of these teams move up the bracket there are already 12 strong programs right now in the Big East if 1 or 2 of these 5 move up it just means it will be that much harder to land in the Top 1/2.

I suppose it's better than UConn. Rumors also that Ricardo Ledo might be following Dunn to PC, both are on campus today. Ed Cooley is really turning them around in a hurry.

Ledo is a great player, but a far worse person...I don't see him academically qualifying for PC. 4 High schools in 4 years, and  a reputation for being a thug at those schools. If he goes and cleans up his act good for him and Providence, but I think they should have stayed away too.

We all knew it was coming...

Quote from: Evan DanielsIt's official. Kris Dunn just committed to Providence.

Quote from Dunn...

Quote from: Kris Dunn"Providence and coach [Ed] Cooley were at all my games and they showed me the most love, more than the other coaches," Dunn told Scout.com. "He treated me and my family great."

We didn't watch Dunn at all during the first period, spending all our time on York. My guess is if Buzz had been focusing on Dunn, the kid who said he wanted to be here, we wouldn't have fallen behind Providence. Maybe we still wouldn't have won the race and maybe he still stays close to home, but I think this shows how important it is to zero in on recruits you think you can sign. Maybe they thought we had York, we were certainly close, but when Dunn said he wanted to come here, it was an indicator that we were in great position. Instead of capitalizing on it, we allowed Providence into the mix and lost both York and Dunn. Alas...

Dunn to PC.  Verballed yesterday.

Looks like Marquette never offered him, according to The New Haven Register.

New London's Kris Dunn opts for ProvidencePublished: Wednesday, August 24, 2011

New London has the state's best basketball player back in the fold — and soon so will Providence College.

Senior guard Kris Dunn made an oral commitment Wednesday to play at Providence while making an unofficial visit. The 6-foot-3, 186-pound point guard chose the Friars over several Big East Conference schools, including UConn.

"I believed that was the best for me," Dunn said. "It's close to home, so my family and friends can see me play. Coach (Ed) Cooley is a great guy. He made me and my family feel like we were home. He is trustworthy."

Dunn also reversed his decision about attending Wilbraham & Monson Academy prep school in Wilbraham, Mass. He announced in July he was going to attend the prep school for his final year with good friend Andre Drummond, the top recruit in 2012 who transferred from St. Thomas More prep in Oakdale.

But the Register's State Player of the Year last season instead decided to return to help try to lead the Whalers to back-to-back state championships - and another shot at the final No. 1 ranking in the Register Top 10 poll. He informed Wilbraham & Monson about his decision last week and New London coach Craig Parker on Monday.

"I kind of had second thoughts (after making his original decision)," Dunn said. "Andre took it well. He will stay there. We will still be good friends. He said do what is best for me. I still want to show that New London is still one of the best teams on the map."

The other schools that offered scholarships, according to Dunn, were Pittsburgh, Georgetown and Louisville. Dunn said the last time he spoke to someone from UConn was assistant coach Kevin Ollie at an AAU Tournament in Las Vegas in mid-July.

Dunn will play for Cooley, who will be entering his first year as head coach after coming over from Fairfield. Dunn told the Register back in March that Providence had already offered him a scholarship soon after Cooley took over. Cooley personally attended a lot of Dunn's AAU games in Las Vegas, Indianapolis and Orlando, Fla., and was a big reason for Dunn's decision.

"He showed me support and love. You don't see that (attending so many games) from most head coaches," Dunn said.

Dunn averaged 26.5 points, 10 rebounds, five steals and five assists per game to lead the Whalers to a 27-0 record. Dunn now has 1,337 career points.

New London's non-conference schedule includes Hillhouse in the Doc Hurley Classic in December. Also in December, New London will be a part of the four-team Northeast Classic hosted by St. Joseph. It will feature three of the reigning state champions as New London will face Class LL winner St. Joseph and, more than likely, Class M champ Trinity Catholic. Archbishop Molloy (N.Y.) is also in the field.

St. Joseph coach Vito Montelli said the matchups will be confirmed next month and that it will not feature a championship game as in years past.

New London will also face Weaver and defending Rhode Island state champion St. Raphael of Pawtucket.

Going just by that, UConn never offered him either, yet they were in his final two?

Maybe Buzz is really only concentrating on frontline players.

Maybe he was holding out hope that they would.

York verballed to Arizona on July 10th and only 4 days into the evaluation period.  The only event he would have played in was the Adidas Invitational in Indianapolis and Dunn was in the same tournament.
