Tom Crean's Tanning Bed

Just thinking about this...if Crean were to leave for the UK job (which I realize is a slim possibility at best), considering the fact MU only has an interim Athletic Director, how would that impact a potential coaching search?

Speaking of an AD, how about this guy?  Jim Phillips of Northern Illinois.  Experience at Tennessee, Arizona State, and Notre Dame (ASU and ND w/Kevin White).  Chicago-area guy who has tremendously grew the athletics department at NIU.  I have had the opportunity to speak with him on a couple of occasions, and I think he would be a tremendous fit for Marquette (despite the lack of football).

The General has taken on a new command.

Has Cords officially cleaned out his office?

Anyhoo, I'm sure he'd be the grand poo bah of a special coaching search committee.

Slim chance.  Slim.

rats!  As much as I felt Cords was not the right fit when he came(football guy), he did an excellent job in finding/hiring coaches and advancing MU thru the maze of conferences to the Big East.  I sure wish he would stick for a few more years.

I have no doubt if it were to happen, Cords would be brought in as a consultant.

What's their timeline for finding a new AD?

If so, he just left.......Cords will spend winters in Milwaukee and summers in Montana.

My girlfriend's parents live down the street from the Phillips family and they are very good friends with them.  I have met him a few times and he seems like a great guy.  I can only imagine the kind of work he could do in the Big East based on how well he has done in the MAC.
