Game sucked ass. But, I'd take it. The difference was talent. Good lesson to be learned here. The Lamb dude didn't look too bad, aina?

Lamb started them off in second half and was great, but Oriakhi won that game for them.  Start three freshman and a sophomore and now National Champs.  Good for UCONN and the BE.

I agree.  Oriakhi was huge.  Not known for his post-up game, and he made shots in the post.  Butler beat a bunch of very good half court teams in the half court- Pitt, WI, Fla, even ODU.  UConn crushed them in the halfcourt.

My guess is that most people on this board were rooting for Butler. I would rather see a school like Butler over a school like UCONN that has questionable recruiting practices. Sometimes the the chase is more important than the carrot!

I cheered for UConn.

I was rooting for UConn the whole way.    And I need some help from trivia mavens out there.    When is the last time Marquette beat a team that went on to win the national championship?    Have we ever done it at their place?    I couldn't think of any last night.

We have a thread on it ...

Answer is we beat UW at home when they won in 1941 (70 years ago).  We have never beaten the national champ on the road until this year.

Memo to me:    Don't skip threads.       Thanx.

I was rooting for UConn.  I root for Big East teams like I used to root for CUSA, etc.

The biggest thing in this game was that UConn was the perfect defensive team for Butler.  With their big men, they don't have to double Howard and can stay home with the 3 point shooters and Lamb with his long arms is a great defender for Mack.  They were great at closing out on threes because they are quick but mostly because they never get too far from the shooters in the first place.  Butler doesn't have the good penetrators that can draw the defensive help that some teams (like us) can.

Butler made 3 2s and 9 3s.

That's insane.

I blame the poor shooting on the fact that Vanzant didn't pet the dog.

I was rooting for UCONN as well.

It was the one time that I would of been happy with either team winning. Usually I dispise at least one of the teams, if not both.

UConn certainly made Matt Howard look like a slow oaf.
When we stop talking, really bad stuff happens.

Why would I root for a Horizon League school?

I would much rather UCONN win.  Gotta keep it in the family.
