For those who don't think that this is over until OU signs a coach, they think that they have Lon Kruger:  http://newsok.com/sources-ou-expected-to-name-lon-kruger-mens-basketball-coach/article/3554487?custom_click=lead_story_title

I am posting more for this though.  Interesting to note that they offered Buzz between $2.2-$2.3 million per season according to this guy.  Cottingham probably had to be at least around there or above.  So, the buyout must not have been the issue, but rather it was Buzz's choice.  I like that Buzz looked at two good choices and chose us.  There are not going to be too many more appealing jobs for him.

Kruger may not be a done deal according to this guy in Las Vegas though:  http://twitter.com/8NewsNow/status/53896313204506624

If I've learned anything these past couple weeks, it's that "sources" in Oklahoma rarely know what the heck they're talking about.
Either that or I missed Buzz's introductory press conference in Norman earlier this week.

I agree 100% and highly doubt the senerio this paper leads you to beleive.  Personally I beleive what Buzz said.  During the NCAA tournement OU tried to contact Buzz but he would talk to them and since he doesn't have an agent they really didn't have anyone with any authority to talk to.  They floated in excess of 2.0 million for the job in hopes of getting his attention.  He MAY have spoken to someone there after MU's defeat but I'll bet it was to tell them his intention was to work out a deal with MU.  Remember by the weekend Rosiak was already reporting very positive vibes about Buzz staying at MU.  The week came, Buzz did the deal with MU and MAYBE picked up the phone and told OU "I'm aware you might be interested in me but I've decided to stay at MU".
Now if this timeline constitutes "Buzz entertaining an offer from them, I guess."  In my mind I don't believe it ever got to that point.

Las Vegas media is reporting that Kruger accepted a job with Oklahoma!  He turned them down initially but they sweetened the deal!  No April's Fools Joke!

I don't think it means Buzz entertained an offer for very long if at all.  I think it means that OU offered/wanted to offer Buzz if they could have.  The OU athletic department could have written up an offer, tried to contact Buzz, and Buzz said no thanks.  Just speculation, but interesting that they would reveal their offer to Buzz.

Big Daddy Z

why is this hire anything special for OU...they were desperate and had to pay big bucks for an average coach at the end of his career.

I wonder if Reggie Smith wishes he'd stayed put...

I wonder if he really had a choice about leaving given the timing with the harrassment incident

I Agree.

Read this aloud, (for best effect):

"Sooner", or later...the Oklahoma fans will have to "Stoops" down and admit their AD never got a chance to "Buzz" Williams before our "guise" locked him in.

MU "Scooped" up the "Buzz", before the weekend, and there's proof.  Friday, before the "Norman Conquest" could even begin, ...., Cottingham, you crazy guy ....UPS'd them off... by overnighting(to ensure a "Sooner" delivery) a Marquette  vanity plate,   with the tag no. of..:
O- U -R -2-L8

OKC what's happened now.....the "Boomer's Busted" .

Its time for us here to simply say.... "Oh you" fans, get a sign on your "Lon", telling the world:

"We,  "OU", a big apology, Warriors, because its clear...,

Marquette knows how to keep a good "Buzz" on "
I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.

I can tell you with absolute certainty that his transfer had NOTHING to do with this.
