How much will the Buzz "Buzz" hurt recruiting?

We are only in year three and already programs are circling like sharks. This is not a positive from a recruiting standpoint.

As much as I hate to say it, unless MU and Buzz make a public long term committment, this stuff will go on every year and coaches will recruit against us with the 'Buzz is not staying" line.

If Buzz really does not believe MU is a destination but merely a stopover, he should go if offered. It would be better for MU to take the hit now rather than a year from now.

I really hope he stays, I like his personality quite a bit. But, both MU and Buzz need a solid new deal and a "this is my home for a long time" or this same discussion will repeat itself next year. I know he has said I'm here as long as they will have me. Well, Steve needs to answer the how long part for the sake of the program.

Here's hoping we will win today and Buzz and his family can handle the snow up to the roof of his car for a long time.

Agreed completely. If this is not the right place for family he should go. Here's hoping that Buzz and his wife love MU and Milwaukee. Do not think if he stays it will hurt recruiting a great deal. The game has changed and all of this is part of the business of college ball.

Agree with what you posted.  I don't know what type of public commitment they could make.  What Buzz said last year was pretty emphatic and unprecedented.  Yet, less than 12 months later, here we are with more rumors and questions.  It may take Buzz saying no to some schools for it to settle down, but I fear it will never go away.

I hope Buzz stays and believe he is on the brink of something special.  I also agree with your comment that if Buzz feels this is a stopover, he should go.  MU then needs to really look long and hard as to who they replace him with.  Without compromising, find the guy that really wants to be here long term.

The good thing about the OU job this off season is that we and every recruit will know where Buzz stands.  It forces him to pick and if likely forces MU to extend Buzz's contract early.  This will lead to some certainty actually in my opinion.

Buzz's contract was already extended. He got a raise last year and has a 6 year roll over deal.

This will not be about money or his contract. It will be about if Buzz wants to go home or not.

Works both ways.  If he says no to OU, Arkansas, etc...than it strengthens him that he doesn't leave for "his backyard". 

Since those jobs don't open up very often, that can work to MU and Buzz's advantage.

I don't necessarily agree with that.  If Buzz says no to OU, I think we're in the clear for awhile, and the only other job I'd really worry about would be Texas.
