As soon as the game started, I was incredibly puzzled.  The announcers were hyping XU and Tu while MU got zero attention and were pretty much just the other team playing.  XU got a university profile, player profiles, coach profile, etc.  Meanwhile MU got none of that, paid no attention to the more interesting coach (let's face it--Buzz is much more interesting than Mack) and a team with a bigger alumni base got no university profile.

Maybe I'm nit-picking, but the announcers were certainly not interested in talking about MU.  It was all about how Xavier would get back into the game.

I thought that after getting into the Big East, having 6 straight NCAA appearances, and all of the ESPN front-page appearances we would get some media respect.

Tu was the story they were telling all week.  Not surprising that continued during the game, since by not scoring, he was still the story they had promo'ed, albiet in a different way.
"Oh, people can come up with statistics to prove anything Kent.  40% of all people know that."  HJS

Mr. Nielsen

I would rather win the game and get no love, than lose the game and get love.
If we are all thinking alike, we're not thinking at all. It's OK to disagree. Just don't be disagreeable.

They knew it would be the only chance to talk about Xavier.  They can profile us during the Syracuse game.

I noticed that too.  Kept waiting for the Marquette "university profile."  I guess we will just have to let the scoreboard do the talking. ;D

Knight Commission

Because Chris Mack allowed CBS into the locker room and into the huddle during TO's. Buzz shut them out.

Not to mention that Xavier has had great success in the NCAA tournament.

MU - our proud program - changed that last night.

Xavier was the higher seed. I would bet that Louisville dominated discussion in their game as well.

Couple that with the fact that MU had no compelling storyline to talk about. Its not like we had an amazing tournament run or late-season win streak to talk about.  Or (like Vilalnova) going from #5 in the nation to losing 10 of 15.

Buzz Williams is about half a dozen different storylines in and of himself.
We have a team largely made up of JuCo's, including the reigning National POY.
We've played an unbelievable number of quality teams (19 games against 15 tourney teams, I believe) over the course of the season.
Otule's eye and struggles with foot injuries.
Cadougan's emergence after missing most of his freshman year with a torn achilles.

That doesn't count general ones, like MU in the NBA, performance in recent games, etc. They could have found storylines if they wanted to.
