Nothing is more frustrating that watching DJO have a wide open 3 attempt and instead pump fake and try to drive into traffic.

Is this part of the "paint touches" mentality, or is DJO just that scared to shoot the open shot?  What I can't understand is that he's not scared to drive 1 on 3 on a fast break and try to heave it up in traffic, but he's afraid of an open jump shot?

So, is this problem due to Buzz's "scheme" of "paint touches" and the "extra pass" or just an individual thing with DJO?

I'll vote for a crappy "scheme" since Butler also often passes up open shots.  The end of the Cinci game where DJO and Butler both passed up open looks was mind-boggling.

I'DJO's mental toughness is suspect.   His mind is either real right and in the zone or he plays like a puss.....he's a big mystery to me.

DJO being DJO.   He did all last year and was lauded for it, as he would frequently drive and then pitch opposite to Lazar, Mo, Cubi for an even more wide open 3.   This year, he can't seem to grasp that he needs to be the man and a semi-open 3 for him is frequently the best option.    At the end of the Cinci game, I saw our two leading scorers pass up open 3's.   I put it on them.   Neither wanted to seize the moment.    Wes, Jerel, DJ, Lazar, Diener, Novak, Mo, Cubi would have taken those shots.   DJO and JFB passed.   Lack of leadership on the floor defined.

ummm...we have the 14th ranked offense in efficiency in the nation and first in the BE in points per game. I would prefer Buzz fine tunes the defense.

NickelDimer

You think this is scheme? That's because you love trashing Buzz.

This is obviously DJO's hesitation because he severely lacks confidence right now.  Did you notice when he did start to let it fly yesterday he barely drew iron a few times?  It's confidence, plain and simple.  He's thinking way too much.
