From what I hear Singleton may be the best PG on the team now.

Hummm  If this is true, it will make for a very pleasant surprise next year, and upset just about everyone here's projection.  It'll really increase the team's depth too.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

It couldn't be any further from the truth.

I say go big and play zone

C Otule
PF Gardner
SF Crowder
SG DJO
PGJamil Wilson- I am not sure how good he can handle the ball, but he is the best passer on the team.

How can you say Wilson is the best passer on the team?  He hasn't played at all this year and he's a forward.  He averaged just over 1 assist per game with Oregon.  I don't get it.

bilsu

Watched him at the Pro Am in several games. He disappointed me, because he did not want to play down low. He wants to play outside. He basically played point and had several pinpoint passes to players on the inside. His size allows him great vision and remember he was an all-state volleyball player. Volleyball players at that level are good passers. Of course passing a volleyball is different than passing a basketball, but you develope great team skills, vision and touch playing volleyball. He would be great at delivering passes to Otule and Gardner. He is not the type of player that will drive and dish. He makes longer pin point passes.

I was at the pro-am as well...I don't believe he'll play a single minute at the point next year...

Interesting.  I did not know he played volleyball.  There was another point guard who was 6'7".  I think he played for Michigan State...

Not sure I agree with those volleyball comments.

Agreed.  See my picture.  It's a National Championship gold medal for volleyball.  Volleyball passing has ABSOLUTELY nothing with basketball passing.

Otule/Gardner will split 30-35 minutes a game at the 5. Crowder probably eating up the rest there.
Crowder/Ewill/Anderson will probably play the 40 at the 4
Wilson/Vander/Anderson/Jones will probably play the 40 here at the 3
Jones/Vander/Wilson/DJO
Cadougan/D Wilson/Vander will play the minutes here

If Vander doesn't start he will most likely play starters minutes backing up 1-3.
If Wilson doesn't start je will play starters minutes 2-4 back up

DJO
Wilson or Vander
Cadougan
Crowder
O'tule
I don't see Crowder at the 4. His best position is a 3.
I thought you were dead. Willie lives rent free in Reekers mind. Rick Pitino: "You can either complain or adapt."

GGGG

willie...they really don't play traditional positions.  But furthermore, who else is going to guard big on this team?  They aren't going to have Ox and Otule play at the same time, so Crowder is by default going to be the second bigggest guy on the floor next year.

Blackhat

Jamil Wilson probably has two inches on Crowder.     But Wilson has a soft game, so he's more a 3 than 4, more of a 3 than Crowder.

I'd like to see Crowder develop some McHale moves and operate in the post and use his quickness, to go with his outside game.

Galway03

I'll say this again, David Singleton may be the best PG on the team right now! If you knew nothing about the team and watched a practice you would think that Singleton was the starter.

We're screwed then.

Cat was a 17% 3 pt shooter, 56% FT shooter, and had a 1:1 A/T ratio in two years at High Point.  Regressed from frosh to soph year.

Holy Cow--not very impressive. Is High Point a D1 school?

I know nothing about Singleton's game, but how can you guys so easily dismiss the idea that a player can get better with the right coaching, or perhaps has just matured?    Players do improve.  Jimmy Butler, Chris Otule, Junior Cadougan, Mo Acker, Cubillan, Amal, Mac, Crawford, Wes....ad infinitum.

Singleton is not the second coming of Steph Curry, and he would need to be to make the jump from his stats at High Point to being a Big East starting point guard.

And Amal went from manager of his HS team to the NBA.    Not saying it has or will happen, but not counting it out.   At the now dis-regarded summer tourney, Wes said that Singleton was the player that impressed him most.

Otule - C
Crowder - F
Jamil Wilson - F
DJO - G
Junior - G

Vander should get top minutes off the bench, but I hope he improves his jump shot this off-season to make it at least respectable. If Gardner gets in better condition, he can start to steal time away from Otule, but Chris has been playing well lately. I wouldn't be opposed to seeing them both on the court for a short period of time, either (IF Gardner is conditioned to get back).

Clearly, the dudes that post on here -- who have never even seen the guy play -- know way more about basketball and David Singleton's game than Wes Matthews.  Duh.
