They control their destiny for the Horizon League regular season.

mug644

That doesn't really help them, though, because they won't get an at-large bid. They need to win their tournament.

GGGG

I understand that but my point is that at the time that wasn't considered much of a win...and now it probably will be considered better.

Still a win over any conference champ is quality and should we win the Horizon League we will be a top 100 win as well.

Benny B

I don't think Milwaukee winning the Horizon regular season in and of itself does anything for MU.  I think that Milwaukee winning the Horizon tourney and grabbing an AQ spot will help MU if the committee considers "wins against tournament teams" when comparing the last few bubble teams.

I could be mistaken, but doesn't the Horizon tourney conclude on "Selection Monday?"  Regardless, it would certainly be logical for MU to be pulling for Milwaukee... of course, last time we did that (Indianapolis, March 2003), they broke our hearts.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

Who is this Milwaukee team you speak of?

Just getting a head start on their new, official old name post-purging of the hyphen-schools from the University of Wisconsin.

Sorry state of the program if this is a quality win.

mikem91288

if they win their tourney or finish first in the conference it should be considered a quality win. If they are in the RPI top 100 at the end of the year, it's not a question whether they are a quality win.

Also, what about Bucknell? Colonial League Champs. Hopefully they get in the tourney and we can throw them on the resume on selection sunday.

It would be awesome for MU to have UWM and Bucknell win their tourneys.
Warrior in the class of 2011.

leever

Is this the same Milwaukee team that just lost to Buffalo 80-65?

Well, if you use Realtime RPI, a win over UWM is more impressive than the ones over USF and DePaul, and would be more impressive than one over Providence.

My point is that it is a better win than most non-conference cupcakes.

Better win than most of our non-conference cupcakes...agreed.

Quality win?  Not unless they break the top 100 RPI which I don't think they will.

BrewCity83

Thankfully, it's not our ONLY quality win.  Maybe our highest quality road win, though.

Why? Determining if a win is a quality or not has nothing to do with a state of the program. It's completely objective.

A UWM game can pnly be a bad loss, it can never be a quality win until they actually beat us onetime.

GGGG

You guys are redefining quality wins. The fact is that the UWM win means more to us than the USF win does. It is more important than a BE conference victory. Therefore it is a quality win.

Windyplayer

They beat a good Cleveland State team tonight on the road I believe. The night keeps getting better!

We are one win from a Horizon League Championship!

I would say its a quality win.

Mr. Nielsen

UWM has 4 wins versus the RPI top 100.

Utah State if they don't win the WAC, most say they will still get an at-large bid. That's crap, since Utah State has only one win versus the RPI top 100.

I blame that super fan USU has.

MuMark

UWM is now in the top 100 in the rpi after tonights win.......94.

MU jumped from 68 to 53.

Windyplayer

Huge leap. Though looking at some of those teams ahead of us makes me sick. RPI is seriously flawed.
