Victories over Wisconsin, Illinois and Michigan State might get them in.

Does our joy in seeing becky lose hurt us in taking another at large?

If that's enough, then we should be in too.  Wins against SU, ND, & WVU are just as impressive as those 3 wins.

That's great logic. And our conference is better. Have not seen PSU play, so I don't know--but we will need 11-7 in Conference with at least one more quality win to be a lock.

How dare you suggest that wins in the Big East can be compared with victory in the vaunted Big Ten! You forget yourself, sir!

I'll check the rules, but I'm pretty sure we can ban him for that.

On the other side of the ledger how about these highly touted teams that have big huge disappointments ....

Pre-season rankings
http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/rankings/_/year/2011/week/1/seasontype/2

Michigan State, started the year pre-season #2 and now unranked.  Now 13-8 overall and 2 - 7 in the B10.  Korie L. has been dismissed from the team.

When was the last time a pre-season #2 failed to make the tourney?

Kansas State, started the year pre-season #3 and now unranked.  Now 14 - 8 overall and 2 - 5 in the B12.

(Pre-season #1 was Duke)

North Carolina, started the year pre-season #9 and now unranked (getting just two votes).  Now 15 - 5, 5 - 1 in a very weak ACC with the tough games coming (two against Duke, FSU and BC).

Gonzaga started the year pre-season #12 and now unranked.  Overall 14-8 and 4-3 in the WCC.

Butler started the year pre-season #18 and now unranked. Overall 14-8 and 6-4 in the Horizon.  Lost to Valpo last night.

Tennessee started the year pre-season #20 and now unranked. Overall 14-7 and 4-2 SEC with a bunch of bad losses on the schedule (Oakland, College of Charleston, Charlotte, Arkansas)

Did not realize MSU was doing that poorly. hell, we have a better record.

They will likely get in the Dance and be a 5 to 8 seed though, simply on their reputation, unless they continue to play poorly.

Please, just a warning.  I swear I'll never do it again.  If only we scheduled Iowa we'd have a shot at a real quality win.

I agree with you, by the way.  We need a 7-2 or 6-3 finish here.

MSU is 4-4 in the Mini 11.

As for the original question, they have a chance. Duquesne (A-10 co-leader) win countered by Maine loss in non-conference play, but also have done zero on the road. Would probably have to finish a game clear of that cluster of teams in the Mini 11 that have 4-5 league wins at this point. Also have played 5 league home games to this point. Required to make a selection I'd say no, but maybe a 1 in 3, 1 in 4 shot at this point, which I'd guess most PSU fans would be happy with on Feb. 1.
GO WARRIORS!

Dont think Illinois and MSU are that solid.  Win over Wisconsin is good
You heard it here first. Davante Gardner will be a Beast this year.

Indiana's triumph this week over The Mighty Illini of Champaign Urbana ranks up there with little Stanford's vanquishing of the Mighty Trojans of USC! Didn't you see the videos?
