If we're going to talk about them constantly...
« on: January 28, 2011, 10:34:52 AM »
...we should probably mention their successes. Congrats to Indiana on their win over Illinois last night.

I don't really like Crean, but I don't really dislike him. I very much liked Crean when he was here, but that changed once he was no longer seen through my blue and gold colored glasses. I HATED the way he left us, but watching his awful, awful teams for 2+ seasons has softened that. It also helps that Buzz has succeeded so much here, and seems to me to have a ceiling higher than Crean's (although that could be those glasses again.)

Either way, if we're going to constantly call out IU's failures, it's only fair to give some recognition this time. That being said...52-49! Another night of fast and furious action in the Big Ten. They must have used a men's ball the entire game this time.

P.S. I realize that I'm probably opening myself up for some criticism, especially since you people don't have Chicos around right now to target all your anger towards.

I'm guessing most will just ignore. Its easier to make fun of a person than give them credit.

There's not much sun in Bloomington again this season but considering how much Illinois hates Indiana (Eric Gordon) I'm sure some Hoosiers are smiling widely today.

They beat a ranked team at home.   Ugly game, but congratulations.

Nah, it was already brought up (http://www.muscoop.com/index.php?topic=24007.0) because people wanted to criticise the students rushing the court.  Ironically it got partially derailed into talking about MU court rushes.

My bad. I skimmed the topics and didn't think "Title game?" would be in reference to this.

Living in Chicago, U of I fans get horrifically annoying.  So I am pleased to see them humbled.  Their fanbase is currently experiencing a similar "meltdown" as I have friends questioning if they should continue to watch their team.

That meltdown seems a little more legit. This was a turn-around year for Weber. He had very good remaining talent and added the great new talent thanks to Jerrence Howard. They should definitely be in the mix for a conference title and some were even thinking a darkhorse for a Final Four spot.

But, really, they look the same as the last few years. Namely, an uninspiring team that may not have the bottle to get over the hump and win big.

drew, I agree with your thoughts.  I don't hate Crean but I certainly don't want to see Indiana do well because of him.....   Although I think they have come a long way in the last few years, they have a long way to go.  They beat a decent team at home but they acted like they knocked off a #1 team.

used to be if you beat a top 5 team, you rushed the floor, then top 10,15.  now in indiana, they swish a free throw and the security guards get ready.  gotta act like you've been there man, but beating a 17 in a loosely put together poll?  mich. st. will be playing at 500 and stil get a top 20.  but indiana has been wanting to do this for so long-a big ten win-let's party

Never a Crean hater.  Thought that signing a 10 year contract and leaving after two years reeked.  I am guessing that he will produce winners with the recruiting class he has coming in.

Rushing the court is kiddy stuff but ??

It also got derailed because the poster decided to find ways to make some points about why Crean sucks.  I believe he complained about how crean pointed at the student section after the game, thanking them for being fans.
