UNC-Michigan State Aircraft Carrier Hoops Game Looks To Be A Go
Published January 25, 2011

Univ. of North Carolina Senior Associate AD Larry Gallo today said "all indications are that all systems are go" for a UNC-Michigan State men's basketball game on an aircraft carrier next Veterans Day. But Gallo also said, "We have not received a contract yet, and there are a lot of parties involved." The game is expected to be held Nov. 11 in San Diego, though it is "still not clear on which aircraft carrier the game would be played." UNC coach Roy Williams "confirmed the game on his Monday night radio show" (NEWSOBSERVER.com, 1/25).  ..

I've been on the Midway several times down in San Diego...even got a tour of it from a Marquette graduate who was a volunteer and former Navy man.

My niece is currently serving on the USS Reagan as an air traffic controller.
