So it's probably safe to say this was one of the five biggest chokes in the history of the NCAA. And against Louisville. Great...well, at least they won't remind us of it every single goddamn year for the rest of our basketball existence.

Correct ... and without looking it up, it is also probably safe to say it is the biggest choke in MU history and biggest comeback in 'ville history.  Would the media guide have this stat?

Pitino has been coaching 25 years and he said yesterday that off the top of his head this was one of the five biggest comebacks in his career.

? what do you mean?  We will forget about this in 2-3 weeks and just think about what ever loss is most recent from then on.

I couldn't believe that people thought that the ND loss was worse than this.  Or the UW come back.  This was a historical loss.  I didn't want to be close to sports center last night.

I posted something similar in a different thread..but thought it was so alarming/revealing as to how bad this loss was:

L'ville down 18 points - needs to make 9, 2 point baskets...(assume MU just let Lville score 9 baskets, and defended the hell out of the 3), it would mean MU would get 9 possesions in return.

9 possesions x 35 second shot clock = 315 seconds/60 seconds per minute = 5:15 of time.  Meaning we could have run 5:15 seconds off the clock, if we just took shot clock violations every possesion, and therefore didn't score on any of our possesions..so long as Lville didn't make any 3's, they would have had to go 9-9 from the field to TIE the game.

As these stats indicate from the original post..yesterday's loss was a loss of EPIC proportions.  Far and away the most devasting, unfathomable loss I can recall in my lifetime.
"I'm not sure Cadougan would fix the problems on this team. I'm not even convinced he would be better for this team than DeWil is."

The Man in Gold

Except they did make 3's.  4 of them in fact, and at least some of them were well contested.

We choked no doubt, but for the most part that was a failing of offense more than a defensive collapse as your post seems to indicate.
Captain, We need more sweatervests!  TheManInGold has been blinded by the light (off the technicolor sweatervest)
