Heck, we started out 0-4 in the conference last year and lost at UW, a heartbreaker against FSU, at home to NC State during the non-conference. In other words, things looked pretty dam bleek around mid Jan. and the season turned out pretty good, right? We're going to have games like this just like we did last year because we're limited in certain areas just as we were last year. It's going to be another fun ride I truly believe - just going to be some bumps(as in heartbreakers because this team just doesn't get blown out) so let's enjoy it again.

I agree. Tough loss, one day after a similarly tough loss, but two close games where Marquette didn't play their best ball. I think we'll get better, win some great games and have some huge disappointments.

Isn't the drama why we watch?

We did beat Georgetown at home before losing at Nova to start 1-3

These overly philosophical and upbeat threads seem meaningless and kinda weird.

It is OK to be ticked when Marquette loses, especially when it could have won both games -- against topnotch opponents.

Why bother with these "the sun will come out tomorrow" threads?

MUSig54

This season is reminding me a lot of last season thus far. I just hope it turns out the same, if not better.

Vander and Gardener are true freshman and Junior really didn't play that much last year, Otule either. This team is young, really young, so they will get better with every game. Look for this team to make some noise when conference play rolls around.

Why even have a thread for fans to voice their opinions at all?

True, but do we want to be saying next year "imagine where we'd be if Jimmy Butler were still here". Then in two years, "what if we still had DJO and Crowder?" At some point we have to deliver with the talent we have at the time, not always looking forward. Otherwise, we'll be sitting here in 4 years saying "imagine if Blue and Gardner had just one more year of eligibility".

What I'm saying is that the nature of the college game is that you will be missing guys every year. This year it's Lazar, Acker, and Cooby. Before that it was the Three Amigos. Next year it will be Butler.

I don't think it's a bad thing to want more. Gonzaga didn't play well last night. They looked pretty poor, but we played worse. That's disappointing, and while it's early, it's not too early to hope for a shooter (*cough* DJO *cough*) to emerge, consistent rebounding and boxing out, or a prayer of breaking the zone.

I was heartened by Otule's play last night. I thought he was tough on Sacre and had some good  moves at times. More than I expected, he's improving .

Wrong--he does not block out.

And how about his play against Duke's Plumlee? Lunch time.
I thought you were dead. Willie lives rent free in Reekers mind. Rick Pitino: "You can either complain or adapt."

Dude, seriously, give it up.  He's substantially better than Gardner on the defensive end and is the best interior defender we have by a mile.  He's got flaws for sure...Plumlee is far quicker and more athletic than Chris...and the vast majority of college post players.  There's no shame in how Chris has played.
