Winning one or two games this weekend will go a long way in balancing a mediocre conference season. 10-8/11-7 in a down Big East year, might not get it done. A win vs Duke or KState and 1 vs Vand/Wisconsin would almost certainly put us in. Lots more chances if things don't go MU's way this week, but it would be nice not to have to go into Feb/March on the bubble for a change.

I don't see a way for us to get it done unless DJO starts getting in sync with things, but I've been wrong many times before.

Assuming we win the games we should in the non-con schedule (always a chance of a slip up with a young team... see Bucknell game), I agree that we need to win two of Duke/Gonzaga/K-State/Wisconsin/Vandy.  If we don't win two of those, we are going to have to kick some arse in the Big East and BE tourney.

Mr. Nielsen

You always need key win out of league.
If we are all thinking alike, we're not thinking at all. It's OK to disagree. Just don't be disagreeable.

A win tonight goes a long way.  If MU were to lose tomorrow's game, UW, and Vandy but beat Duke tonight, they likely would still be in the tourney with a winning BE record.

However, that is highly dependent upon where the other bubble teams finish.  That's not a forecast any of us can make.

Heck, even playing Duke to the wire helps Marquette, more so than most other teams insomuch as the AP voters and committee have already picked up on the "Marquette plays everyone close" adage.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

I think that helps if you're playing a top-five Big East team late in the season, but I'm not sure how much difference there is between a 2-point loss and an 18-point loss in November when Selection Sunday rolls around.

This is definitely a potentially big statement game. Beat Duke, win 10 games in the Big East, and we're probably in, regardless of what else happens. But beat Duke tonight and K-State tomorrow, and we're probably in the top 15 teams in the country. Unlikely, but one can dream...
