Class of 2012 Chicago Simeon star Jelani Neely is ready for his junior season, and is set to be a key component of a loaded Chicago Simeon team that will open the season as the top-ranked team in Illinois. Neely ranks as one of the top 2012 prospects in the state of Illinois.

Neely, a 5'10 point guard, is a superb floor leader who excels with his ability to run a team. Neely was a driving force on Simeon's Class 4A state championship team last season, and followed that up with a strong run on the travel team circuit with 16-U Mean Streets.

"Practice has been going really well. Everyone has been going hard and making each other better. Simeon practices are extremely competitive. I have been getting a lot of individual work in, and hitting the weighs so I can be prepared for this coming season and the next level," said Neely.

Recruiting is going well for Neely. "The recruiting process has been going pretty good for the most part. I went on two visits down to Ohio and Ohio State, but other schools are also interested such as Drake, Marquette, Michigan State, Indiana State, and Wichita State. Overall the recruiting process is going good, and I can't wait to make my decision."

Neely enters his junior year focused on doing all he can to help lead his team to a repeat state championship, and is also focused on making his mid-range game and his vocal leadership skills a priority.

Buzz will be trying to get a PG every class! I have no questions about who Buzz recruits. he knows the best for the squad! If Neely has the characteristics that meet the standards of Buzz, Buzz wouldn't be recruiting him! Go Buzz!

As of now, we only have 2 open scholarships for 2012, and one of them is waiting for Tokoto. I would be surprised if the other one of them goes to a PG. The 2012 PG crop is seen as weak...which is part of the reason I believe he took Derrick Wilson.

GGGG

Also, how did Marquette "show interest?"  Showing interest means different things to different people.

I had the same thought, but if Ohio St wants him he must be pretty good.

I have no idea what his college upside is, nor how much interest MU really is showing, but it's pretty impressive that the kid as a sophomore ran the point point for a state champion in Illinois' top division.

Scholarship allocation chart shows we have 3 scholarships available--1 open and DJO and Crowder are gone then. Singleton is a walk on.
I thought you were dead. Willie lives rent free in Reekers mind. Rick Pitino: "You can either complain or adapt."

Thats because we have not yet filled out the 2011 class.  If Buzz adds one more in 2011, then there will be only 2 available in 2012.

If he banks it, then there will be 3 available for 2012.
