Which team gets the better seed?

                        Team A        Team B

Record                 27-4      >     26-6
RPI                        4        >       6
SOS                      40       <       31
Top 50                  7-4      <      8-4
Non-Con RPI           12       >       13
Non-Con SOS         70       <        41
Last 10                7-3       <       9-1
Rd/Neut               8-4       <      14-6

I think the answer is they should probably get the same seed - but I will be very surprised if they do.

team B

tough call, but i think the L10is what makes the diff. gotta go with the team that is hotter now

I'd rank team A slightly higher, but don't know how that would translate to seeding as it depends where the breakpoints are.

Team A has a better record, 4 losses vs. 6, and a better RPI.  Although Team B is hotter now, Team A is 7-3 over there last 10.  Not too bad.  If they were 5-5, I'd probably go with B then.

So who are the teams??

Last 10 can be deceiving.  You would want to see who they played in the last 10 games.  9-1 is pretty easy for a good team in a mid-major conference.  You also need to look at what quality basketball they are playing right now.  I would probably give the higher seed to Wisconsin, and put Southern Illinois maybe one below.

a= UW
b= Southern Ill.

That's correct. Current average projections have UW as a 1, and SIU as a 3 - borderline 4. 'Splain that one to me.

UW could certainly settle the argument in the B10 tournamnet, but if they drop their game to MSU (highly possible), thatd be an awfully tough sell.

Wisconsin:
Best Wins:  #2 Ohio State, #5 Pitt
Worst Losses:  #38 Missouri State, #24 Indiana

SIU:
Best Wins:  #21 Creighton, #31 Butler
Worst Losses:  #134 Evansville, #80 Northern Iowa

I could give you that SIU didn't have the same chance to beat top 10 RPI teams.  But they didn't take care of business at the bottom end of the schedule.

In my mind the one big difference is that Wisconsin won all the games they were supposed to outside the top 50 and SIU didn't.

Therefore, it's not even a close comparison.  No way does SIU demonstrate the same level of accomplishement as Wisconsin.
