Dwyane Wade Sr.
« on: March 01, 2007, 01:11:28 PM »
I just saw Dwade's dad doing a commercial for Moo + Oink store in Chicago. It's pretty amazing what fame can do for a family. Anyways, I was curious to find out about his dad since I don't remember DW mentioning him at jersey retirement. Here is an old artice fom Washington Post.

His Dad was all over the SI Man of the Year special on HBO.

I didn't see the HBO special, but I work with Wade's cousin and she said that Wade's father deserves a lot of the credit for how he turned out.  His father doesn't want any fame and they still sometimes have a tumultuous relationship but his Dad is/was a huge influence on him.

His Dad is also very active/involved with Dwyane's basketball camp in Chicago.

I saw the ad and about choked.  You'd hope that DW3's dad is not trying to cash-in on his success.  The ad was very poorly filmed and not something that i'd want my dad associated with.  For goodness sakes... Moo & Oink?!?!

Last Warrior I felt the same way, but I figured the people who don't live in Chicago wouldn't understand the commercial. I imagine that DW would not have wanted his dad doing this type of commercial. It has to be tough walking the tight rope of family when you are in DW's position.

A few more things...

1) I never knew that DW3 was a Jr.
2) Did anyone else notice that DW3's dad was not introduced at the jersery retirement?  I find it odd that he is heavily involved with the summer camps but is running these ads and wasn't introduced.  I assumed they were estranged.

Anyway, doesn't detract from the person DW3 and IMO makes his father look like money-grubbing idiot.
