Mark references a large number of MPS players attending prep school.   Is this to develop their games or develop their study habits?
Luke 6:45   ...A good man produces goodness from the good in his heart; an evil man produces evil out of his store of evil.   Each man speaks from his heart's abundance...

It is better to be fearless and cheerful than cheerless and fearful.

Interesting. I believe I read on zagsblog/twitter that he would be attending Brewster Academy - a top notch school and basketball team for a cool 30k per year. Guess not.

Still find it amusing that Findlay Prep is referred to some as a school....as it most assuredly is not. Cliff Findlay is a UNLV booster that sponsors the team (he paid for the house the team lives in and travel expenses). The kids take classes at a nearby prep school called Henderson. Im not sure what the guy gets out of it considering the best players dont commit to UNLV...which happens to be 20 minutes from the team's house. I have developed the opinion that any any prep school that recruits bball players that is NOT located in the northeast is nothing more than a basketball factory. There are tons of top academic institutions here on the east coast that recruit players from all over but at least they are true boarding schools - his list appears to be a list of factories. I was hoping for Brewster.

My bad. The kid from Vincent will be attending Brewster. I hope he really takes advantage of that education like Will Barton did.

Hey, its a lot cheaper than buying an NBA team.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Barton's issues were not Brewster related.

PS - anyone know the status of Findlay?  What high school are they teaming up with this season?

Barton's issues center around his high school "work"...not necessarily what went down at Brewster.

There are good and bad prep schools. The NCAA started to crackdown on the bogus ones the past few years, but there are still some bball factories out there. Frankly, I just assumed they were all bball factories until I met someone that actually went to a pretty prominent east coast school and was not a basketball player.

As for Findlay Prep...those kids all go the Henderson School (legit), and they have never had a player not qualify for D1 hoops.  Henderson was actually destined to shut down awhile back due to lack of funding, I guess that never happened.
