- 12 year partnership in which ESPN will retain full-rights to the entire conference product (including Duke-UNC rivarly).
- pay-out is believed to be worth $1.86 B over the 12 years and $155 M distributed annually to the conference members (or roughly 12.9 M per school).

***"The deal remains valid if the conference has a different composition, and at the end of the deal, we negotiate to handle any change," Skipper said. "And one of the reasons it didn't come up is it's clear that the ACC is a very sound conference, not likely to change."

So....Tagliabue...how's it going?

Your cable \ satellite bill just went up a few more dollars.

I would feel a whole lot more stable if the Big East could work out a TV deal such as this.  13mil/year/school isn't exactly BTN money, but it's not exactly peanuts either.

Chicago_inferiority_complexes

How does any ACC or Big 10 ever run an athletic department deficit with those kinds of numbers? And I assume that is not their only source of revenue. Football game proceeds and donations are likely huge.

The more money you get the more you spend. 5 years from now you will higher coaches salaries, higher recruiting budgets, etc.

And with BEAST football where it is...we're not exactly looking at ACC money either.

And the odds of getting BC to come back just dropped significantly. Not happening.

What I don't understand is why a network would even really be interested in carrying BE football. The markets aren't great and the product sucks. Assuming the ESPN contract is renewed, how much room is there on espn to air every fball and bball game for both the ACC and the BE? I wonder if this deal takes some of Tagliabue's bargaining chips away from him...?

Raycom will still be producing / televising most of the local broadcasts, when UNC DUKE play football it won't be on ESPN.

I have a feeling the quality of raycoms local / regional broadcasts will increase because they will have access to more espn material. Raycom Still owns all its content, ESPN is paying to air a handful of big games every year across their network platforms.

IE. duke unc bball x2, miami VT football etc.

* This is what I picked up from the articles and the fact that my company has a partnership w/ raycom and the ACC which hasn't changed at all since this went down.

Shocking!  The Big Ten revenue gap was exaggerated. See below which is an excellent/well supported article as opposed to the crap Teddy Greenstein (Mr. Big 10 himself) was throwing out daily as he was in cahoots with Delaney and his fear spreading campaign before Texas opted to stay put and hold the "Big 12" together.

In a BE deal, BBall schools would get much smaller payout

According to this article, there is a $7 million per school gap between the low end of the B10 payouts and the ACC payout above.  That's still quite the gap.

I believe the current BE share for fball schools is roughly 5 M and it runs thru 2012 or 2014. While the BE is due for an upgraded contract, it will pale in comparison to what the ACC just received. I wonder if a split is inevitable? the fball scoops have the most marketable rivalries so it makes sense.
