Will a PO'd Jayhawk resurface as the Spartans next head coach?

Kansas is still the bigger job. MSU was good with Magic and with Izzo, but I still don't think they're on par prestige-wise with Kansas, UNC, Kentucky, or UCLA. Maybe if KU joins the Mountain West, but as long as the Big East is sniffing, I think Self stays.

No Buzz to MSU threads yet?  Amazing!

He's staying as long as we'll have him

Kansas has more history, but if they end up in the Mountain West, then MSU may be the better job in the long run.     If MU ends up as part of the A-10 or equivalent, with 1/2 the revenue due to a torn up and then re-negotiated TV deal, I honestly wouldn't blame Buzz if he went to a state school in one of the megalopolis conferences.
Luke 6:45   ...A good man produces goodness from the good in his heart; an evil man produces evil out of his store of evil.   Each man speaks from his heart's abundance...

I'm not sure where I'd stand on Buzz leaving in that circumstance. Right now, only Duke commits more money to their program and as we saw with TC, Marquette is willing to pay top dollar for their coach if they really want him to stick around. I think, as others have said, that Marquette is a perfect fit for Buzz and vice versa.

Of course, if we're out of the Big East, our financial commitment to the program likely wanes, our recruiting ability instantly takes a hit, and the viability of our job probably sinks quite a bit, making us simply a stepping stone and not a potential "destination" type job. My honest hope is that Buzz will become our Coach K, lifting us from the top-30 type program to a top-10 program and a true elite. In this conference, it seems that the University is willing to spend to make that happen. But would it be the same in a basketball-only league or the proposed Catholic league? I'm not so sure.

Wait, he didn't say he would stay as long as we would have him [want him] and then under his breath a bunch of caveats that we had to be in a BCS conference, or the Big East, etc.   Memphis isn't in a BCS conference, neither is Gonzaga.

If he said he will stay as long as we will have him then I take him at his word.

Commitments are not one sided. If Marquette "wants" Buzz they'll prove by maintaining their commitment to being a top tier program. If they don't, they'll "want" a second tier coach to leaad their second tier program.

MU doesn't have a lot of choice in the manner unless you are abdicating MU start a DI high profile football program.

Sounds like you're throwing in an excuse for Buzz....why?  He seems to be an honorable guy.  MU spends in the top 3 in the country on hoops, that isn't going to change.  That's commitment.

If MU continues that commitment I expect Buzz to honor his. I'm old school about loyalty being a two way street. For example, when MU gave TC the world (routinely renegotiating and extending contracts in midstream) some expected loyalty in return. That experience reinforces the fact that a person who routinely sells and resells his "loyalty" doesn't even understand the concept. I think Buzz is better than that. If not, I'll be very disappointed.

I believe in loyalty as well, but I also think college coaches aren't loyal. Perhaps I'm jaded by it, but this is why I don't believe any coach (ANY) in today's day and age when they say they will stay as long as they will have me.  That doesn't make them a dishonest person, I happen to think Buzz is a good guy and seems to be an honest person.  But college hoops is a revolving door and few coaches stay long, and that includes the 9 years that Crean stayed.   Was TC "loyal"?  Nope, but more loyal than any coach we had in 30 years.  I'll be doing hand stands if Buzz is here 9 years, I hope he is.

So I guess your previous post was sarcastic and should have been in teal? I kinda thought so.
