Wow, Texas politics may be more powerful than I thought.

Say this happens and Big Ten doesn't end up grabbing Missouri and Nebraska, but moves east instead - There are going to be some very interesting and appealing schools sitting lost in the middle of the country. Kansas State, Kansas, Iowa State, Colorado, Missouri and Nebraska. Back to the Big 6 conference again!
“All men dream; but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity; but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act out their dreams with open eyes, to make it possible.” - T.E. Lawrence

Ann Richards got Baylor into the Big 12 over TCU years ago.  Not sure BU still has that kinda pull, but stranger things have happened due to TX politics.

HouWarrior

Neither Mizzou, nor Nebraska, are giving their word to remain in Big 12, leading to increased speculation of their Big 10 interest/or poss. talks w/Big ten.

I agree w/NY Warrior on Baylor pushing its way into Big 12 w/Ann Richards' threat to veto other tax funded Tx univ. joinder, unless her "Baylor", was included--
--This time I am aware of no similar Baylor clout, and even diehard Bears admit they havent been competitive at this level--I dont see Baylor as anything but an orphan left out of the big moves brewing.

Note UT president  went to bat for inclusion of Tx tech-- UT is not doing such for Baylor--the only private school in Big 12.
I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.

I think Baylor is a mistake for the Pac-10.

As a small, baptist school, it doesn't fit with the rest of the Pac-10 colleges.

But if you don't get UT, A&M and TT without Baylor...you take Baylor.  That's the same dillema that the B12 faced over a decade ago.

Are Baylor's football games even that big of a deal?  Even when they play the other Texas schools?

I was always under the impression that Baylor was the doormat of Big 12 football.  The Pac-10 shouldn't lose out on the Denver market for Baylor, but I guess you gotta play politics on some level.

Again, if you don't get Texas without Baylor, you take Baylor.

And the "Denver market" is a little like fool's gold when it comes to the University of Colorado.  Colorado has a great number of out of state students, and Denver has a lot of transplants from other parts of the country.  It is my understanding that their college football ratings aren't all that much.  Colorado's athletic budget is also in the bottom half of the Big 12's...much closer to Baylor than Texas.

Mr. Nielsen

I don't think the Pac-10 wants Baylor. I still see Colorado as a lock for the Pac-10.

Whether or not they want them doesn't matter.  Taking Baylor and to a lesser extent Texas Tech is the price you pay for adding UT and TAMU.

I wonder if this could be payback for negative recruiting by Scott Drew at Baylor against Texas' basketball team.  Payback is a bitch.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Your right the main school is Texas.

Its official-- colorado accepts pac 10 invite...baylor needs to dust off its resume' --anyone want a baptist school w/ an agressive bb recruiter like scott drew?
