Yes, he was caught with marijuana. That does not make him a pothead nor should he be associated with all the related stereotypes of being such. Those posts are just annoying and completely unfounded. I see the humor in it, but it wears off pretty quickly.  We should be supporting him not deriding him for a misstep.

Of course there is. But he did wrong and must atone for that. Forgiveness comes through contrition. Redemption comes through living correctly. He must accept that he did wrong and is sincere about living righteously. If his penance includes exclusion from the NBA then he must recognize the consequences of his actions.

Who do you think should decide what is penance should be? If he never gets picked up by an NBA team, will all those GMs have decided that his penance should be "exclusion from the NBA"?

Would McNeal then have a case, saying there was collusion against him?

Arbitrary rules are arbitrary.  Jerel is an adult that did something in his own home that didn't hurt himself or anyone else.  Being punished for something so frivolous is a waste of everyone's time and energy.

Yea Jerel should never be allowed in the NBA due to this incident. I mean the NBA banishes everyone who has ever used marijuana while in the league.

I think if he can play a solid role in summer league, he will get a chance to stick. It will come down to his skills much more than what happened over in Turkey.

Oh my god, seriously? God doesn't care about Jerel, or anyone, smoking marijuana.  You may say he did wrong legally, but trying to bring in moral implications and judgments for doing something as harmless as smoking marijuana is laughable.
