If Buzz is still recruiting do you think he would recruit Buycks old teammate? He'd have to sit a year but he has size. :-\

Blackhat

I'd ask Buycks what kind of locker room presence/ character the guy has.   If he is a positive guy in the locker room I guess I'd make it a possibility.

I wouldn't want to tie up a scholarship for two years...on a guy that will play for one year...who has potential character issues...at a position where we are loaded.

agreed.
The "average fan" is an idiot.

I'm certainly not saying we should recruit him because I agree with Sultan on him only having one year, but what are his character issues? Did I miss something or are we talking about him going to a funeral? I know 10 days is a long time to leave (probably too long) but if that is the character knock against the guy I'd say he is getting some unfair pub.

"Probably" (??)  I'm sorry but leaving for 10 days mid-season for the funeral of a great-grandmother is too long.  And probably indicative that he didn't really care all that much.

Mobot

Since when are we loaded at the PF position?  Or is he more of a small forward?

Dawson Rental

From the article, it sounds to me like Dendy left because he was afraid that he'd have to play more than 16 minutes a game next year.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Come on. This is guy is for teams are desperate that have people dropping like flies from their rosters? Wait is that going to be us if Gardner and Newbill don't qualify?
Warrior in the class of 2011.

I'll give you that Sultan, this kidseems to lack of heart and committment. When I think of "character problems" though I think much worse than that.

Either way I think there is no argument that we should be considering this kid.

I'll bet his professors gave him make-up work to do while he was gone.  (I wonder iif he was able to concentrate on his studies, while he was away from the campus environment.)

We really don't have a traditional PF and SF position.  We generally have a wingman, center and three guards....one of which can be bigger as need be.  At that wingman position we now have Butler, Williams and Jones, plus a guy like Newbill can probably play there too.

I would characterize the Buzz line-up as something like this:

1- True PG creating plays with the ball in his hands like Acker and DJ.
2/3-  Shooting guards.  Ideally playmakers and scorers.
4- A bigger player who can shoot and put it on the floor like Hayward, Butler and what EWill and Crowder and possible Jones will be.  This has to be a fun role for recruits.  I'd want to play this one.
5- a true center whose job it is to clog the paint and rebound.  Ideally hit some midrange jumpers to clear the lane for the guards penetrating.

I think that is what Buzz is looking for.  I am excited to see how the offense looks with Otule in there.

Who are we to judge what is the appropriate grieving period for the loss of a family member? Do we know anything about the relationship between LaRon and his great-grandmother?  Maybe he just took it really hard.
Maybe, to him, family is more important than basketball.

Note: I have no idea why he was gone that long just trying to offer a different point of view.

The last 2 years, we have been so size deficient, its hard to really say what Buzz's ideal lineup is. I think the only thing we cant draw is that he will play the best 5 players, almost regardless of size.
