Gardner's Hands
« on: May 19, 2010, 03:51:02 PM »
Think a lot of the talk on Gardner has been lost in the discussion his size/weight.  From the scouting reports and videos I've seen, I'm really excited about the kid's hands...

In the JS report on him, his coach mentioned "He was our best free-throw shooter – he shot about 80 percent, and there were games where he shot 19 for 21, 15 for 17."  Also saw this on a FB post from him today which got me tweaked... "just went 48 for 50 from the 3point line at the gym boy boy boy cant wait til i get to marquette".  With shooting like that from outside, the ability to catch the quick dish down low, and convert consistently at the foul line... I can't wait either.

I just hope that we get our 2010 class finalized so we know who's going to be playing ont he team.  I'm excited about Gardner too - I think he will drop some weight and become even more effective.  Whether he drops 30 - 40 who knows, but every pound is a lot.

Go Marquette!

Agreed completely.  The way DJO and Buycks whip passes underneath, he could have some big games just by being able to haul them in and put the ball in the hoop.  I do believe 2011 is going to be VERY good!
The www.valueaddsports.com analysis of basketball, football and baseball players are intended to neither be too hot or too cold - hundreds immerse themselves in studies of stats not of interest to broader fan bases (too hot), while others still insist on pure observation (too cold).

Won't his free throw percentage go down if he loses weight?

I predict that in about eight hours I'll suddenly wake up and say to myself; "Oh, that's what 4ever meant."
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

I slept on it and still have no idea.  I either don't get the correlation, or I don't get the joke.
