The gist of the story is that Kansas administrators may have been involved in a ticket scalping operation making hundreds of thousands of dollars going as far back as the 2003 regular season and NCAA tourney run.  It also involves a father of a current Kansas player, Brady Morningstar.

I'm going out on a limb here, but if KU was found to be complicit and was "stripped" of its post-season accomplishments during those years, would MU elevate to 2003 Runner-Up?

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

Yeah, you are pretty far out there on that limb :P

Since the whole ticket thing didn't really affect the kids playing on the floor I doubt they'd strip them of their post season accomplishments.

Let me ask this then... who is (not was) the 2008 Runner-Up -- UCLA or Memphis?

Edit:  My question is from a money perspective... the national runner-up gets more NCAA money than the national semi-finalists.  So in the event that a win against you in the NCAA tourney is eventually vacated, do you get an extra share of tourney ching?

Unless players were receiving money, I see this as having no effect on the basketball program. The biggest issue for Kansas here is lack of control over tickets. The biggest issue for the sellers is failure to pay income taxes.

Why is it that the source in these kind of stories is a guy that just happens to be in prison, or soon heading there...

Cause those are usually the only people with incentive to squeal.

I find this story to be incredible.  How could all this be going on, without Self getting a taste?
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Alright! That's #1 and #2 done from the 2008 tourney bracket! Now all we need is to figure out how to disqualify teams 3-31 and Marquette will be the 2008 national champions!

Ahh the Pump Brothers...they just couldn't let World Wide Wes hog the spotlite forever.

Wouldn't any extra money from 2003 just go to C-USA anyway?  I thought we had to leave all our NCAA units behind when we left.

ceh

bma, here in KC, many KU alumni are very nervous about this whole situation.  They hope the scandal will be contained within the athletic department / ticket office and not spill over into the BB program specifically.  The pump bros have funneled multiple players into the KU system, and many are worried about the money trail from the stolen tickets especially since the FBI and IRS are now involved.

No.

Our loss to Kansas would still be a loss.  If KU has to vacate their win, it would have no impact on us.

Put it this way.  If the Pump brothers go down, a lot of schools should be very worried.  They're probably closer to the UCLA program than anyone else, though they have lots of ties with Bill Self.   They're very close to Tennessee and Iowa State as well.  They've got connections to North Carolina.

I suppose of all the power brokers, Wes, Sonny Vaccaro, the Pumps etc. they were the most likely to get caught doing something stupid, so we really shouldn't be surprised.
