Here's a depressing thought.
If we lose to Pitt, Syracuse loses to Georgetown and @ Nova
DePaul beats S Fl at DePaul.
West Va splits losing to Pitt and beating Cinc.
All Very Likely in my opinion
We all end up in a 4-way tie for 5th place.   The way I understand the seeding and tie breakers in that scenario we end up tied with DePaul who holds a head to head tie breaker over us.  As a result we are seeded 8th.  For a team that looked to have the first round bye locked up 2 weeks ago that's a bummer.  We would probably play Providence or Nova.  That uninspired loss to DePaul could really come back to haunt us.

Wow, that is very depressing. I didn't really realize that scenario...the scary thing is it is very possible.

Next Saturday is huge (how many times has this been said about a game this season??). Obviously the ND game was huge...but ultimately no shame in losing at a venue where every other team has this season as well. But, we NEED to take care of business at home (even if it means a sweep over a Top 10 team). No small chore, but I have a feeling the guys will respond to what should be a rockin' BC and get a huge win.

If that doesn't happen...I'm afraid of where we'll be seeded for the BET.

By my quick calculations....a Syracuse win in one of these last two games would help right? Just as a safety net? Course, if the boys beat Pitt we don't have to worry about it...but if your scenario comes true, you are right. We'd be in the 8/9 game in New York. Yowzas.

Yes you are right.  We would want Syracuse to win to avoid the tie.  Basically we want teams that we lost to NOT TO TIE US and teams that we beat TO TIE US.  This allows us to "raise our record" in the mini-conference approach tie breakers.  It is possible for 6 teams to end up tied at 9-7 but my head hurt too much when trying to calculate that so I gave up.  What is really surprising (and I think a little sad) is how little all these teams have played each other.   It makes me long for the "good old days" of confernce play when everybody played each other home and way and you didn't have all these unbalanced schedules.
I'd love to know how the Big East determines who you play twice and who you don't play.
