Marquette: The Golden Eagles entered the season with modest expectations and delivered modest results. Marquette rode an 11-3 finish into the tournament, then hooked up with Washington in a memorable first-round game in which the Golden Eagles fell two points short. Unfortunately, the talent drain may continue for Marquette which loses its top player in senior forward Lazar Hayward. Hayward took 34 percent of his team's shots while on the flor this season. Filling some of the scoring void will be 6'2" sophomore sharpshooter Darius Johnson-Odom, who will be joined on the wings by super-athletic Jimmy Butler, a high flyer that makes his living at the foul line. Buzz Williams will need a new point guard thanks to the departure of Maurice Acker as well as starting combo guard David Cubillan. The teeny, tiny Golden Eagles had only one player 6'7" or taller--Joseph Fulce--and he played just 29 percent of available minutes. Junior Cadougan, who made a token appearance against the Huskies, missed most of this season with a ruptured Achilles tendon and may be in the starting point guard mix next year. Williams' incoming recruiting class is ranked No. 13 by Rivals.com and is headlined by No. 22 prospect Vander Blue, who may also be in the running to start at lead guard. The Eagles will again be one of the country's smallest teams and will play outside-in. Despite some key losses, Marquette has much to look forward to next season.

Will we be the tallest?  No.  Will we be the shortest? No.  We are losing two guys under 6'0 and replacing to two taller kids.  We have two seven footers and a couple 6'7 guys.  If Otule is able to play 20-25 minutes a game, height is not a reason for losing.

I re-watched the Notre Dame game the other day.  (yes, I am a masochist)  I was just watching how Jimmy played on most posessions.  He is very athletic.  I would say the most athletic guy on the court.

There was one play where the ball was going out of bounds toward the end line and he ran after it full speed, stopped and picked up the ball.  How he managed to stop his momentum and pick up the ball take huge amount of strength and coordination. 

that is just one play but he makes lots of amazing plays all season that take coordiation and leaping ability.

the only problem is that he is playing out of position and banging with the brutes down low and it is hard to showcase his skills when doing that.

Until Marquette gets a true starting center, most reports on Marquette will be that we are small and play primarily an outside game.  I think the report is fairly accurate.  The best part is:  "Despite some key losses, Marquette has much to look forward to next season."

The article says Junior made his toekn appearence against UCONN. Wasn't his first game at 'Cuse? Not that I really matters, I just want to facts to be straight.

Also, I know this question has been asked before, but who do you think will be most improved? I think its between four guys.

For the freshman/JUCO who do you think will shock you most?
1. Vander I hear is obiovously great but will he have a great Frosh season? 10PPG?
2. Jae can light it up, and he's bigger.

4. Jones - saw that one game on ESPNU and wasn't too impressed for the 94 scout grade given on ESPN
5. Smith has some DJ hopps in him

it might just be a matter of waiting but was hoping if someone could enlighten me while we wait in this (long) offseason.
