As a college hoops junky and diehard MU fan I gotta say I feel much better after watching UW get absolutely crushed by Cornell. Now, I can really enjoy the rest of the tourney(root for the cinderella's in Northern Iowa and Cornell) and enjoy the fact I don't have to listen to how good UW is for a week. That definately helped heal some of the sting of the loss to Washington, but I can't help keep asking myself what could've been if MU somehow could've gotten by Wash. Guess it just wasn't mean't to be though, right? All is right in the world though with Wisconsin and Notre Dame both done. Really dislike those two fanbases more than any.

Agree 100%, watching UW get demolished almost made up for our loss.  Heck of a tournament get the feeling UK might just roll.  I'm leading one of my pools at the moment but my total possible is 78 which is about 50% of anyone else.

Watching Kansas lose did more for me than UW lose

I guess one question that needs to be asked: If mid majors such as Northern Iowa and Cornell can get the job done--why can't we? I doubt that Cornell even gives athletic scholarships. I believe that Northern Iowa has been in the dance the last 3 or 4 years, and is still playing. Both teams have capable big men.

Before everybody jumps on me, I'm just sayin'. Why do we always have excuses?

Excuses?    We failed to play defense for about 10 minutes in the second half.    We played poorly with a lead.   Their star hit the shot.    These aren't excuses, these are facts.    Why no effective big men?    Medical conditions don't cut it as excuses with you, I guess.    You know, like life threatening, or bone breaking.    Nothing but excuses.    Or transferring because your dad wants the offense run through you.    Buzz should have caved on that in order for us to have a serviceable big, in order to eliminate excuses.     We are all frustrated about the lack of big men.   How many of these big men for the mid-majors that are giving you chubbies are seniors?    How about, if Otule or Yous aren't serviceable by their senior years, you then start slamming buzz.

Sorry pal. Mid majors are playing and we are one and done. Case closed!

Agreed.   Mid majors with senior bigs who had 4 years to develop.   We could try to go the Cornell route and stop giving athletic scholarships.   We could go the St Mary's route and recruit the heck out of Australia.    Gonzaga and Wisconsin both have a plethora of bigs and they both lost today.    The vast majority of minutes at MSU go to players 6-7 or under.   Izzo's two freshman bigs are erratic.   Fire Izzo?   BTW, name the last 5 at MSU to be successful at the next level.    Suton?    Davis?    Peplowski?   When UNLV won the national championship and nearly repeated, who started at center?    How about Arizona's national championship?   How tall is Tyler Hansbrough and what position does he play in the NBA?      There are many ways to skin a cat.   I am as hopeful as you that Buzz starts landing some 4 star bigs.   I am just not going to hate on him while I wait.

Plenty of other high majors went by the wayside, not just Marquette.  That's the way the one and done tournament works sometimes.

Let me ask you this:  by your criteria, we should be envious of UW-Milwaukee.  After all, they have the more recent sweet 16 appearance.  How does that fly by you?  I'll take consistent success over an occasional tournament appearance and 2-round advancement.

If we keep making appearances, we'll start winning more tournament games eventually.

By the way, we had a great season, exceeded everyone's expectations.  I understand the desire to win more NCAA games, but one season doesn't have anything to do with the last four seasons.  Different players, heck, even different coaches.  Take this year for what it's worth.  A great accomplishment, and we fell just short of advancing.  Too bad, but don't undermine the season as a whole based on one game.
