I know most people are looking past this because this was a blow out game but this is not good having the leader go 2-11 and his past games havent been much better except the seton hall game.

MauraDay

way to be a downer...It doesn't matter who scores the points as long as we come up with more than the other team when the time runs out.

dwaderoy2004

at least he's not jacking up 20 shots.  he's learned to take a back seat when he's not effective.  although some of his passes were rather ridiculous.

AlumKCof93

Who cares - I don't even think Lazar does.  He didn't put himself above the team by forcing shots even when we were up big.  He's had a great senior yr and career at Marquette.  A great representative of the university!

I wasnt trying to be a downer at all, im just concerned about his shooting. It seems that since the pitt game his shot has been off, just seeing if anyone else has noticed that. The win today was probably the best all around game by mu this season.

21Jumpstreet

Maybe, but how about that dunk!  His leadership is not just points.  He did not force it late.  I'll take a double digit win with him struggling a little.

WarriorHal

Zar doesn't have his shooting touch right now; not since the first half against Seton Hall. But he more than made up for it tonight with his defense. We blew out Louisville twice in the second half...unbelievable! Nothing to complain about.

77ncaachamps

Yeah, I've been dismayed by his output. Jacking threes instead of driving.

But Zar does the things to help this team win. NO EGO.
100% competitor. He cares more for the W than his stats.

I think he knows he's struggling but doesn't push like a star player on his HS team might.

That dunk + the dunk by DJO should be top ten plays.

CrazyEcho

1. He SHUT DOWN Samuels who didn't score until the game was over.

2. He had a momentum changing dunk.

3. He was the best cheerleader in the building when he was on the bench.

4.  I knew someone would have a negative thread about Lazar as soon as I got home from one of the best games I have ever attended.

wojosdojo

This isn't good. He played good a SHU but as of late hasn't been the offensive machine he has been all year. He isn't knocking down the inside shots/jumpers nor behind the arc. You can just tell how much Lazar wants to contribute.  Gotta give credit to everyone else who has stepped it up.

Mu2323

I was not trying to be negative, i was simply saying that his shots have not been falling consistently like they were before the pitt game. His game was fantastic today outside of his shooting.

nyg

He's saving it for Senior Night in order to go out with a big game.  Come on......

The guy is a stud and even when he is not on target, he is constantly cheering/yelling at/mentoring his team mates.  Thats called senior leadership.

He will be dearly missed next year.  Really missed....

Who cares? His defense, rebounding, leadership, energy, etc. have carried this team all year even when his scoring hasn't. Tell me he didn't still sway the outcome of this game even if it wasn't his points that did it. Discussion over.

Won by 20+.

Imagine if Zar went *off* in this game.

W-o-W.

Luckily, the team stepped up though Zar finished only with 8.

Someone shelve that #1 Leading Scorer talk. ;)

Remember how many folks on the board were saying that DJO was super when he essentially sacrificed his offense in order to play incredible defense against Dominique Jones of USF? Maybe that's how we should look at Lazar's performance against Samuels. Solid team play tonight, no need to come down on anyone, especially Lazar.

I don't think everyone's really coming down on Zar, but are a bit concerned if he's in a funk.

Hey, we're winning...but if we weren't, Zar's production (or lack of) would be a valid topic for discussion.

Or maybe the team could go off because Louisville either had to play a zone or have their bigs guard Lazar/Jimmy off the dribble.  The fact that you can't sag off Lazar/Jimmy is a huge deal.  Lazar wasn't going to score a ton of points down low against the Louisville bigs, but he took good shots, and they just didn't fall.  He'll be just fine.

StillWarriors

If he was the type to lose confidence and go in a shell, I'd worry. I don't see that. He'll bust out strong and be fine.

Gwaki

FYI he was feeling very sick before the game and wasnt sure if he could play

chren21

I say he will get hot in the BE tourney and keep it going right into the tourney...

+1.  He was taking 40% of our team's shots in games back in November.  He didn't force anything, and considering the way he was getting to the line when we needed him and Butler to make their contribution after Louisville cut it to 10 I'd say he did just fine.
