It may sound crazy to Chicos, and others who swear this DePaul team is worse than just about ANY team MU has ever lost to in its 100 year history of men's basketball..but:  I predict DePaul wins 4 Big East Games this year.

Lastly - DePaul this year lost to  #8 Tennessee by 4 points, BEAT number 22 Northern Iowa.  I don't care if they had Kowashal for those games..they were coached by JERRY WAINWRIGHT who was a TERRRIBLE coach.  Tracy Webster has these guys playing hard..his intensity compared to Jerry Wainwright's alone was about 10x greater.  Wainwright might have been a nice guy, but he was a Doufus...like Wade Phillips for the Cowboys...Webster...his itensity was as palpable as a Bill Cowher.
"I'm not sure Cadougan would fix the problems on this team. I'm not even convinced he would be better for this team than DeWil is."

Nice strawman.  No one ever said it was the worse loss in 100 years, especially since MU hasn't played basketball for 100 years.   ;)   Rutgers is ranked 180th, DePaul is ranked 190th....DePaul has a very real chance to knock off Rutgers.

It's great they beat those teams, they also lost to Florida Gulf Coast and American University. They also haven't been within double digits of any Big East team in the country.  They won those games you listed in the beginning of the year, and obviously those teams got better while DePaul got a lot worse....losing 9 of 11 and 6 in a row.  Let's talk trends here.  DePaul was on a miserable trend, not playing well at all, MU was playing well and all of a sudden the earth stopped spinning last night.  They were flat, didn't have their heart in it, etc.

Careful....Lenny is going to be by any second now to start bashing you for bringing up his name.....oh wait, it's ok because someone else did it.

The thing about last night is that DePaul looked like a wretched team against us.  They threw up 10 or 12 of the worst shots I have seen all season.  They were a bad team missing their star player that wasn't playing particularly well, and we still lost.  That's what hurt the most about Wednesday night.

I know we missed big free throws and all, but we lost that game for the same reason we've been losing games for the past 6 years.  We can't go inside for an easy bucket because we don't have any interior scorers.  I love Hayward, but if he takes an entry pass on the low blocks he is more likely to have his shot blocked than he is to score.

DePaul spread the defense out, dared us to drive on them and score inside and we couldn't do it.

Hobbes:  What's misunderstood about you?
Calvin:  Nobody thinks I'm a genius.

DePaul was terrible and we should have won by 20. Up until the last two shots, their offense was incredibly awful. Ours was even worse. When your leading scorer from the first half hardly sees the ball in the second half and when you can't for your life get an offensive rebound, you lose. It hurt badly.

NickelDimer

Depaul is honestly one of the worst Big East teams I've ever seen.  I thought they were going to break the back board with some of the bricks they were throwing up.  The bottom line is they were allowed to physically beat the heck out of our guys and they hit back to back "out of your arse" shots to win by one.

I don't think anyone questions that this loss hurt badly, nor that their offense was ugly/awful.  But, they made us ugly and awful due to their intense defense.  They played their asses off defensively. Saw Dick Bennett teams win with ugly offense and great defense.  Saw the Ravens win a Super Bowl with NO offense, Trent Dilfer at quarterback.  Defense WINS.  DePaul played great D..and we missed some shots we might normally make, as well as the customary late game free throws - all lead to a loss.  But, DePaul deseves some credit for how they played, and how hard they competed.

I thought they would win one more, but doesn't look like it now with their second loss to Rutgers.

DePaul will not win 4 BEast games this year. They are terrible!

That loss to them really will hurt us for Dance seeding. They absolutely blow. and we have huge egg on our face for that loss.
I thought you were dead. Willie lives rent free in Reekers mind. Rick Pitino: "You can either complain or adapt."

I'm not calling out Ners in this thread as I have made predictions that were wrong as well.  That said, I don't know why people have problems bringing up old threads in this manner.  I have seen posters making "100% guarantees" in threads and slamming anyone who disagrees as "idiots" and so forth.  I think it is only fair to resurrect a thread in that case.

Again, not saying Ners fits this case but there are plenty around here that are so cock-sure of themselves and yet they are wrong about 30-50% of the time.  They should be called out in such cases.

I understand. I also know that Chicos eggs it on. I call a low blow when I see one, and i know chicos brought this up to insinuate

Funny thing is they root for the same team

Another psychologist / Cleo on the board.

You do realize that I also thought DePaul woul win again so all I'm doing is calling myself out....of course that is mostly due to my "low basketball iq"

LOL

Though this is probably a little bit of a low blow, it is par for the course for Chicos.  That said, I accept the criticisism that goes along with stating an acutal opinion.  It was after the DePaul loss so many fans were ready to throw this team under the bus - and I guess at the time my feeling was to support the team, and not knee jerk over 1 bad loss.  It was bad, but DePaul definitely did play better under Webster as the year went on, and had a chance to steal a couple of wins.  I do appreciate the support mudimitri, but this type of thread recycle comes as no surprise, given the recycling source.

Sorry kid, i just call it like i see it. I have defended your opinion before, but not on this one

DePaul can still win a game, hopefully we dont end up as an 8 seed so theres no chance of them playing MU again

ChicosBailBonds

Just waiting for your feigned outrage to be consistent.  When you start to be consistent (Dimitri), let me know (threads and comments are recycled here daily and I've never seen either one of you complain one bit about other posters doing it).  Hmmmm
