Just a FYI.  There are still a few games being played, but that's where we are right now.  Predicted finish still at 68.

RPI is so overrated. It's who you have acutally beaten that obviously means the most. Even though we don't have that real marquee win(came close of course) we still have 5 quality wins over teams like Gtown, Xavier, South Florida, UCONN, and Cincy. And if we can knock of Ville that will be 6 quality wins with a chance to possibly get a marquee win in the BET.

I dont get how we dropped from 59 to 61 when in the last 2 days.......UCONN won against WVU and Gtown beat louisville. How do we drop?

RPI overrated? I'll have you know that Chico's BFF Jerry Palm gets PAID to compile those rankings and opine on college basketball. Why Chico and he were chatting just today about soft and hard bubbles. What I would have given to be a fly on the wall during that conversation.

You have to look at the bigger picture of who we've played and what they did in the last two days. It's not just a measure who the people we beat won against, it's a measure of everyone we played.  And it's been a bad weak couple of days for our former opponents...

Maryland Eastern Shore lost to Morgan State
South Dakota beat Utah Valley
Presbyterian lost to Gardner Webb
Michigan lost to Illinois
Providence lost to Syracuse
Rutgers lost to Seton Hall
Georgetown beat Louisville
UConn beat WVU

Don't you have anything better to do with your time than threadjack?

Those Big East W/L's should be a wash, but it's those OOC opponents (e.g. Presbyterian, MD-ES, Grambling, etc.) that are just killing our RPI and will continue to do so as long as they keep losing.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

Thanks. Remind me not to put Birkie in the front row on my opening night at Zanies.

If you would like to join us, by all means.  Maybe you can give us some advise financially, as well.  You're more than invited.

By the way, he's a Purdue guy so he can't be my BFF, but I laughed for hours when I saw that.  Ohhh the tears.

Not quite.

Every PC, DePaul and Villanova game counts double any other Big East team since we played them each twice.

Hence PC's loss to Syracuse is a net negative for MU.

As an aside, when comparing the middle part of the ROI (the 50% based on the opponents winning percentage) DePaul's 8-18 record is slightly more harmful than Maryland Eastern Shore's 9-19, and slightly less harmful than Grambling's 6-16, Centenary's 8-19, or Presbyterian's 5-24.

DePaul is significantly more harmful than South Dakota's 15-9, North Florda's 14-15, or UWM's 16-13 record.

Since we're being technical... the "net loss" from PC is counterbalanced by the fact that we haven't played Louisville yet, hence their loss has no effect on our current RPI but a GTown win does.

So again, I will say that the BE W/L's are a wash, more or less.  But that wasn't my point, my point was that the OOC opponents' records are a constant drag.  Compared to DePaul... okay, not so bad in some cases, but playing DePaul is not within MU's control.  Playing the "who's who" of the RPI 300+ is.
