Ten 50-year old guys going on a golf trip to Puerto Rico and staying in old San Juan.  Any suggestions for bars and/or restaurants would be appreciated.  We like local stuff - no "Hard Rock San Juan" (if there is such a thing).  Trying to stay close to the hotel.  Thanks.

Hey, the wifey spent a good deal of time there a couple of years ago.  She's going to talk to some of her locals down there and get back to me.  They went to the real authentic places.

Shannon's Pub is pretty nice.  Go to the part of town called Condado and roam the hotel bars and casinos.

Do not venture out of Old San Juan, the Condado or Isla Verde areas at night time.

get the hell out of San Juan.  Go to Rincon or Ponce or somewhere else.  Old San Juan is great for 1 day of touring/eating/drinking..., then you're done.  In fact, we toured about half the island in little over a week, and are anxious to go back to do the rest.  Rincon is a neat surfer community-no idea about golf.

If you have the time, take a day trip to Culebra.  It is small island off the coast of PR, you can take a ferry there, always ranked as one of the world's best beaches.

I was down for a wedding in September.  We stayed at the La Concha Hotel & Resort which has an unbelievable lobby bar scene on the weekends.  Probably the top spot in the area.  There are other places in Condado as well but other than a day trip to OSJ, we honestly didn't feel the need to go check out anyplace else for nightlife.  .

These are the two that my wife's friend recommended too.

Thank you for all your referrals.  Plane leaves in a few hours, weather permitting.  Won't be hitting any beaches this trip, have to save that for when (if) I take the family.  This is more a "middle-aged men behaving badly" kind of trip!
