Does anybody know how the NCAA RPI works?

We are currently 58. Two teams ranked ahead of us that I would question are Cincy at 56 and Marshall at 57. (Marshall is 4-0 against Non D1 teams. Talk about cupcakes.) Another one that looks iffy is Seton Hall at 51. They are 15-10 with 15 home games already.

We have lost to numbers 4, 5, 8 twice, 9 and 19, while beating 11, 20 and 45. And why wouldn't beating Xavier at 20 be a "quality win"? Did not see that listed on our "resume" during the game yesterday.

We are ranked considerably better in Pomeroy and Sagarin. Does the seelction committee  look at other computer rankings?

"Does the committee care about tempo-free? Kind of, but not really. Ken Pomeroy's invaluable efficiency ratings are explicitly listed in the "resources" section of our committee materials, alongside Sagarain ratings and Jerry Palm's CollegeRPI.com. But they're listed last, and in our committee, which is made up of media members who write about basketball numbers for a living (and not, you know, conference commissioners and athletic directors), Ken Pomeroy's stats came up maybe once or twice. (They did play a role in the committee recognizing Marquette was this year's most unlucky team, but we might have reached that committee Pomeroy-or-no.)"

As reported a few times on many of the MUScoop threads, RPI doesn't take into account how close games were, just wins and losses against opponents.  The other resources you named take loss margin into account among other things.

Simply put....score of game is no factor in RPI.  Did you win or did you lose and where was the game played (home, away, neutral).
