MU 79, Cincinnati 76 (OT)

Cincinnati, Ohio -- Lazar Hayward scored eight of his 13 points in the final 27.5 seconds of regulation and overtime, overcoming an otherwise nightmarish day from the field to lift the Marquette Golden Eagles over the Cincinnati Beacats, 79-76, on Sunday afternoon at FIfth Third Arena.

Hayward, who tied Jerel McNeal for the school's all-time games played mark with 130, knocked down a three-pointer with deep on the left wing 27.5 seconds remaining to knot the score at 67-67, then scored five of the Golden Eagles' 12 points in the extra session as MU outlasted Cincinnati despite a 21-2 run by the Bearcats that gave them a 39-33 halftime lead.

Jimmy Butler also had five points in overtime, including a breakaway dunk that put MU (17-9, 8-6 Big East) ahead, 77-73, with 15.6 seconds left. Cincinnati (15-11, 6-8) got a three-pointer from Rashad Bishop on its ensuing trip downcourt to cut it to 77-76 with 7.9 seconds remaining, and then immediately fouled Maurice Acker on the inbounds play.
