Well, if you're claiming that MU has a better following than all of the schools I presented in my list, than wouldnt it also make sense that MU would be the best represented at the BE tournament? Or, are you simply implying that MU fans are great when it comes to playing @ Seton Hall but fail to show up at the tournament? Which is it?

We dont travel to the east coast schools despite the fact that they sometimes travel here.

I live in NYC and attend quite a few games (not just MU games but virtually any interesting BE show-down). And yes, our fans dont travel very well

{snip}

Do you really think as many MU fans went to the Carrier Dome this year as Syracuse fans went to the Bradley Center last year? No way.

You're right!!! My bad. I guess I failed to identify all of the MU fans that have gone to the BE tourney the last 3 years.

Dude - you're moving the target!  First, you start out by saying MU fan's don't travel well, but opposing fans come "here" (here = Milwaukee).

Then, to rebute the fact that we do travel well, you say that less MU fans went to Cuse, than Cuse fans came to MU.  (BTW...now "here" = NYC) Gee, got any numbers for that?

Finally, you reference the BET, where East Coast people just have to drive over to NYC for the night to complete your argument that MU fans don't travel well.  Ok, you got me there...it's much easier for most BE fans other than MU, DePaul, ND, Louisville, and Cincy to get to the BET.  Got any comparison of MU fans against those other geographically challenged shools?

This is pointless.  Could it also be that MU hasn't done well at the BET that you haven't seen many MU fans there?  Do you think if we made it out of the first couple days attendance would get better?

No, I dont have numbers. But I wish I did because I went to both games. My guess is that you did not.

And regarding the BE tourney, I think (again, no specific numbers) that Syracuse draws the most fans despite being the most "geographically challenged" relative to other schools. So let's see, how many schools are closer to NYC than Syracuse.... SJU, Rutgers, Prov, SHU, UConn, Pitt, Nova, GTown (maybe).

So...basically you are saying "I could prove it, but I can't"

Why produce evidence when an ad hominem attack will suffice?

How great would it be if the BET somehow in an attempt to appease the Western schools moved the tournament every couple years to the United Center?  Obviously that won't happen but that would be great.  I do however plan on making a trip to NYC one of these years, seems like a great time.

It's not too hard to take a look around.

Pitt -> NYC = 371 miles
Syracuse -> NYC = 246 miles

But otherwise, well done.  You got a B in geography.

Not to nitpick, but Pitt is farther away than Cuse and Gtown is close to the same distance (albeit a train is available from DC to NYC)

I don't think MU is the best traveling school in the Big East... but... given it's size and the distance between markets, I'd say MU has a pretty good traveling fanbase.

Certainly some schools are better, but they might be drawing from a much larger pool to start with (similar to MU vs UW).

This coming from a guy who earlier wrote that he's had too many drinks at games to really pay much attention.

Btw, I live in Jersey and have seen strong MU contingents against Rutgers, Seton Hall, and St. John's. Also had non-MU people mention that they were impressed with traveling numbers for the Tournament in the Garden.

It's all subjective........................especially when you consider drink totals.
