Over-Under on DePaul vs MU attendence (my bet is 10k in attendance)

For the Marquette fans & alumni that reside in the Chicagoland area, the MU-DePaul matchup offers the most convenient game to attend each year.  Thankfully, for Marquette, this has proven to be a home away from home... aka Bradley Center South.  I don't feel like DePaul has had a serviceable following since the Drake Diener vs Travis Diener days...  Hopefully DePaul makes a comeback in the coming years.  I'd like to see them do well (except against MU).  I feel like Marquette fans and DePaul fans attend this game in about the same numbers... but the MU crowd has more to cheer about.  While the N.W suburban paper Herald reports that the Blue Demons  have reported an average of 7,444 per game at Allstate Arena, the actual number of people in the seats might be half that. (http://www.dailyherald.com/story/print/?id=349890).  What effect do you feel we will have on attendence tonight?  While last years numbers were over 11k, DePaul is in a year where they are experiencing some turmoil.  What's your guess?

You do not want DePaul to make a comeback. They can lose the next 30 Big East games for all I care.  The worse they are, the less relevant they are in Chicago recruiting...one less team to worry about going up against.

I live in the SW burbs of Chicago and going to Milwaukee to see a game is much more convenient than going to that joke of an arena in Rosemont. I will never again attend an event there

I live on the North Side and I'd much rather drive to Milwaukee than the Horizon. Traffic is usually bad, the parking lot is atrocious and the venue is depressing. I'll take the hour and half drive to Milwaukee any day of the week...including yesterday!

For what it's worth, Marquette was able to buy 108 tickets behind the MU bench only 16 days before the game for the bus trips.  Clearly there won't be a very large DePaul turnout.

Watching Marquette @ DePaul is like buying a ticket to a demo derby: People who aren't interested in seeing destruction happen won't go, but people who live for that stuff will.

I just bought tickets in the 3rd row of the balcony right at half-court.  So plenty of tickets remain.  Hope to see a lot of gold in the stands..

I too am in the S.W suburbs... Please let me know the worm hole you've discovered that will allow me to teleport to Milwaukee to avoid the joke in Rosemont.

As long as we continue the recent trend of a midweek matchup with Depaul at the Horizon, we will not have a noticeable uptick in attendance.  I hope the Saturday matinee reoccurs soon.  Living downtown, the trek isn't too much to ask once a season.  But perhaps DePaul could rent from UIC?  Only downside I see is no beer.

I think that having beer being sold at games has to be one of the biggest things Marquette fans can be thankfull for.  How great is it that our arena sells beer?  I for one like to have a few when I reunite with old friends at the Bradley Center.  It's great that the other game I attend regularly at the Allstate sells beer too.  If I didn't know better from visiting other schools, I would have thought all arenas sell beer!

All those who thought Marquette fans would show up in droves were correct.  Reported attendance was 10,115... even though I'd say their may have been 6000 people in the seats max... about half being MU fans.  Those who answered 2500+ are the winners...
It was good to see some Marquette students in the DePaul student section.  I sat behind Mark Aguirre... he moved to a empty part of the arena at halftime though... probably was annoyed by MU cheers around him.  For all the complaints about the Allstate, I have to say that it's great to get so close to the game.  Probably the best seats I've ever had at a b-ball game for $25.
