Indiana fans storm the court after beating Minnesota.

If so, how a mighty program has fallen.

I can't think of another D1 program in the country whose fans would storm the floor after beating this year's version of Minnesota. Beyond pathetic.

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Looks like the students have bought into the Crean propaganda.

Truth is .. why wouldn't they?  Embrace the Crean.  He's yours.

Was that after we had lost to them for several straight years?

Yep.  It was a Saturday morning game (thanks, Digger).  The Gym opened at 7:00 or so that morning.  Good times.

The banner will be ready by the next home game along with a pregame video montage of the storming fans.  Historical reenactments will be held on the IU quad every Tuesday and Thursday.

Yes it was.  Kids will be kids and they're going to storm the court for whatever reason they like.  Beating a crappy Notre Dame team or doubling your Big Ten wins from a year ago.  Kids want to celebrate and that's what they did.

The feigned outrage at how pathetic it is (not your words) on this thread is entertaining for sure.

God, you are hilarious.  I understand that you worked for Crean and admired him, but please.  This post was making fun of how far Indiana basketball has fallen.  It had nothing to do with TC.  Indiana fans and students should be ashamed of storming the court after beating Minnesota.

Minnesota.....we talking Minnesota

ND was our biggest rival back then.  A win against ND made our season in the hell that was MU basketball in the 80's.

Not sure what year your speaking of, but it was probably after 8 consecutive losses.

Again....ND biggest rival....Minnesota....just another conference game.

No "outrage" either feigned or otherwise here. But it is pathetic and funny that a "top 5/6 national program has fans storming the court after beating an unranked, non rivalry conference opponent. Can you imagine North Carolina fans after a couple of down years storming the court after beating Virginia Tech? I can't.

I'd make fun of them just as much as I made fun of UW, Michigan, and Indiana fans...

Don't get me wrong, I don't think they should rush the court.  I don't think Michigan fans should rush the court beating UCONN.  Or Clemson beating a very average North Carolina team.  But that's because all of us here are aged a bit, we understand the place in history of these programs.  As an IU alum, when I heard they stormed the court, I laughed.  Not something we did when I was at IU (yet, when I was at MU, we stormed the court probably 5 or 6 times and I was a student during some of the worst basketball in MU history).

Students will be students and slamming what students do and extrapolating that to the entire school or coach is petty in my opinion.

The students have gone through a major scandal, a one conference win season and this year will only be slightly better.  Students are just being students, wanting to do something stupid.  Wanting to say they went crazy that one night on the Assembly Hall floor.

Here's how some IU fans feel about it from their boards

*  These past three years the students had to go through two massive rebuilding years and the darkest year in IU history thanks to Kelvin "jerk face" Sampson. Let them do whatever they want. I'm happy for them.

*   I agree with these sentiments- it's all part of the rebuilding. Next year- even later this season IU should expect to win these and not be too jubilant- but that's later, for now party like it's 1999- Big Ten wins have been few & far between. Way to go boys now build on it- is a B10 win streak too much to ask?

*    I was embarassed when they first stormed the floor. However, after thought, IU has been so so bad the last 2 years, let them celebrate! Do you realize Crean could win his next 18 b10 games in a row before reaching .500!

*    What a fun game!
I think the students did need to do this. Imagine what this did to the players confidence and enjoyment of a hard fought win, I think this was a very nice reward for a good game.

*     Normally I would not defend a storming of the court but the students have not had much to cheer about the past 2 years. I will begrudgingly tolerate a storming of the court after this win.
The rebounding was good. If Watford, VJ3 and Dumes can gel together and we get some solid rebounding from Elston/Bobby "The Situation" Capobianco then we should be able to try and defend Assembly Hall and maybe steal a win or two on the road

*     Hey y'all; I'm a Coach Knight raised purist and I say, without reservation...let them rush the court. We have a team and a fan base that has inherited the personality of this coach; passionate and unrealistically cheerful in the face of, well, anything.  This team has a 3.06 GPA and has at least three players (VJ, Wat, Creek) with deep tournament potential. The joy in my family room on my kids faces when Minn missed and we won...and the fans rushed in; priceless!

*     Let the students storm the floor! Who cares? Does it hurt anyone? If that is "The Ugly" then I will take it every day of the week. Generally I'm not in favor of it unless it is an unranked team beating a top 5 team, but I'm not the authority on the matter and last I checked no one on here is either. If the fans are feeling the emtion and want to do it then who cares. Personally, EVERY game that we win right now is an emotional win for me, especially an overtime win like we had today coming back from 5 down with 2 min to go. Some people need to stop looking for things to complain about and just enjoy the wins we get.

I'd be OK with a conference championship, a la 2003. But nothing less.

I suspect at IU gets better, they will be storming the court less and less as well, but at the end of the day, hard to control what the students are going to do.

...and it wasn't even our home court!  But a great game.  I'm guilty of running out on the court and being an idiot that night as well.
Thanks for ruining summer, Canada.

That was my first and only court storming experience.  Not ashamed to admit it was fun.

That was also my one and only game at the Mecca.  Absolutely loved it.
