DURHAM, N.C. (AP)—Olek Czyz (CHIZZ) is leaving Duke's basketball team.

School officials said Friday that Czyz is planning to transfer to another Division I school.

The 6-foot-7 sophomore was primarily a backup forward who started the first two games this season as the seventh-ranked Blue Devils (8-1) went to a bigger lineup with guard Nolan Smith serving a two-game suspension.

Czyz, a native of Poland who played at Reno High School in Nevada, averaged roughly 10 minutes in the six games he played, averaging 2.5 points and two rebounds while shooting 58 percent.

The school says Czyz is leaving in good academic standing and coach Mike Krzyzewski (shuh-SHEFF-sky) says the program will support him through the transfer process.

I know nothing about this guy... is this someone Buzz should have on his radar?  Being a native of Poland, he should feel right at home in Milwaukee.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

Not sure what to make of him. He joins the long list of transfers out of Duke. Lots of questions around their program these days; Has K lost his recruiting touch? Why won't he EVER use his bench?....Scheyer and Singler routinely getting 35+ minutes a game even against cream puffs.

He was well thought of coming out of HS but K doesn't do a good job of developing bigs...(sound familiar?) and their "live or die by the three" keeps the other big men off the court.

GGGG

Honestly, I think their coaching staff is a little inbred.  His three assistants (Collins, Wojo and James) not only all played for Duke, but none of them coached anywhere else prior to joining K's staff.

wow!!  the article gives pronunciation help for the coach who we all know but not the player?! ::)

That's a great point, and I never thought about it like that.

I think Coach K is still a good coach, but maybe they could use some fresh blood to help with some innovation.

Is that considered "basketball incest"?

I would take this guy if we can get him.  He would be a nice addition.

Interesting.

Everyone I've ever heard say his name says shuh-SHEFF-skee, not shuh-SHEFF-sky.

I just refer to him as either ratface or Katan......course then I'm a UNC fan so....... ;)

And even the hardcore dook fans refer to wojo and chrissy as "the elves" and think they are pretty much worthless.....
