Toone told off Al when he was a young player for not playing him enough.  He thought Al promised him a starting spot supposedly too.  Al shoved him in the locker room and that may have been what brought the team together to win it in '77.

Marquette was able to survive that.

Maybe some shoving needs to happen.

This MU squad ain't the '77 team and Buzz is no Al.

I appreciate your optimism and I don't think this will be all that devastating but your comparison is hardly apples to apples.

PuertoRicanNightmare

I forget...did Toone make these claims 10 games into his freshman year?

By the way, Bernard Toone was twice the player Maymon was.

MR.HAYWARD

twice the player...try 1000X the player...Bernard Toone was the #1 rated HS player in the nation.

Toone did not quit, but Al did.

GOO

Al retired and went into the private world to make some real money.  He didn't quit.  If Maymon decided that he'd had enough of basketball and was done playing it and had an offer to make some money in the private sector, I think the context and discourse would be different.

Yeah, that McGuire really bailed on our program...he was only interested in himself and never did anything to help.  And he was too tan.
