A Homage to "The Far Side"
« on: December 16, 2009, 09:00:45 AM »
Next to Calvin and Hobbes, one of the best comic strips ever.  One of my favorites was the "What you say/What a dog hears" square below.

So I began to wonder, is life imitating art with the J-May situation?

What Buzz said: "Jeronne, you are probably one of the greatest players I've ever seen come out of the state of Wisconsin, and if you commit to Marquette, work hard, get your grades up, and leave it all on the floor in practice, then there's a good possibility that you will start a few games your Freshman year and work your way into a full-time starting role within a year or two."

What Tim & Jeronne heard: "Jeronne, you are blah blah blah the greatest player ever blah blah blah blah blah blah you will start your Freshman year blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah."

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

I miss the far side.

And I suspect you are spot-on with your hunch.
All this talk of rights.  So little talk of responsibilities.

Hey Vikings, I like what you've done with the basement.
