I know that Butler and Hayward are the horses on this team but I think for the near future the last important shots should be in the hands of DJO.

CAINMUTINY

While I agree to some extent I would have to say that this team will belong to Vander Blue pretty early on in his career, if not from the very get go.

Wasn't it in his hands at the end of the Florida State game, which was the first scenario of its kind for MU this year?

DJO's pass was errant, but two possession before he took it to the hole and scored when we were stone cold.  Also, he stole the inbound pass but stepped on end line when he came down with 2.7 seconds.  While everyone looks forward to Vander Blue, he has never faced the talent and physical play of high level D1 competition and hence mostly likely will be on the learning curve (as the case for most freshmen).

A very good friend who is a very good friend of a successful D1 coach (thus I trust that it was actually said), said, that Vander Blue "could play for the Bulls right now." Now, whether or not he actually could or not or not, who knows, but I'll take it as a pretty good indication from where I'm sitting, that his learning curve is going to be a pretty short one.

I guess I'm not quite quite following you here. On the one hand you seem to be advocating that DJO should be the go to guy after playing just 7 D1 games, but Vander Blue won't be able to do the same thing?

NCMUFan

I am just saying, DJO is playing D1 and improving with every game.  Vander is still in high school and an unknown at the D1 level till next year at this time.  I hope both Vander and DJO will be awesome weapons that opponents fear.  That's all I am saying.

2010 Starters?

1. Junior
2. Vander
3. DJO
4. Bulter
5. (Fulce/Otule/Mbao)

Which gives the bench some nice depth:
D. Buycks (combo guard)
E. Williams (PF)
J. Maymon (PF)
J Jones (SF)
R. Smith (PG/Combo)
Otule/Mbao/Juco big man

CAINMUTINY

Vander could start on this team now.....so nothing against DJO but he's the better of the two NOW.

Fulce?  Jeez, Maymon has passed him already.

Yea, I just thinking about playing "center". Can Maymon play "center"?

Also, I have hope that Fulce is underperforming because of his knee injury. Hopefully he gets better as the year goes on.

Maybe Otule will be adequate by next season.

The line-up could be:
Otule
Maymon
Butler
Vander
Junior

That would be a bigger more physical line-up, and would give you some nice score punch off of the bench with DJO.

GOO

By next year I bet that Maymon, after a year of play and another summer working out, becomes much more explosive. Just look at Butler and Hayward. As for Junior, I wouldn't pencil him in as a starter just yet. Buckys and DJO will have a year of experience. We could run two combo guards, if junior has problems coming back from a serious injury. Plus Buzz wants to put a bigger line up out there so we may see two guards starting.  Maybe Blue and DJO. A lot depends on Otule, as he may continue to progress as I bet he is able to practice by the end of January and work on skills.

Fulce just doesn't look like he knows what is going on out there.  He looks like an athlete that plays basketball and not a basketball player...if that makes sense.

Furthermore I don't think that Buzz cares necessarily about the traditional 1-5 positions.  He puts out the five best and gets them playing a ton of help defense.

All true.

Lazar is the center right now, so I guess maymon could do the same role.

I'm still just holding out hope that Fulce is better than he is showing right now.
