I'll be in Denver this coming weekend for my company Christmas party.
Anyone know of any bars downtown w/ MU faithful, or would anyone like to meet up and watch the game?

HylianHero

Hmm, I live in Fort Collins, I don't know of any bars in downtown Denver that have a particular following of MU faithful. I'm sure that any bar would have it on, but don't know of a large group of MU fans in Denver, sadly. I'll be watching from my apartment in FtC.

wyoMUfan

I had a feeling that would be the case. Although I did see the Marquette Alumni clubs "mile high" chapter is hosting a viewing party for the badger game w/ badger fans, could be interesting.....

here is the link for anyone interested.

I usually would be willing to drive down and join you (I'm in Longmont), but I've got a holiday party right after the game this week, so I can't stray far from home.

The guys at Blake street tavern would probably be willing to put it on a TV.  Jackson's across from Coors field would probably find a TV for you too, and I think I've seen other MU fans there before, but I may be mistaken.  (http://www.jacksonsdenver.com/)

I watched both the 1996 and 1997 CUSA semi-final games (both wins, thank you Mike Deane) at Jackson's.  One of them was on a TV set in the floor but we couldn't complain b/c damn near every other TV had the 'Lanche-Red Wings game.
The Teal Train has left the station and Lens is day drinking in the bar car.    ---- Dr. Blackheart

thanks for the tips. Looks like i've been over ruled anyway on a day of drinking in Denver.
But i'll be in Aspen with a bunch of alum the weekend of Jan 9th if anyone is gonna be around, we'll be watching the Nova game at zanes in aspen (not snowmass zanes).

Blake St. and Jacksons are both places that the Alumni club hosts events at (when it hosts alumni events, that is).  However, I'd be surprised to just find MU people watching the game there absent an organized event.  You may try Swanky's as well on Blake...it is a Packers bar, and I've watched a few MU games there.  Ultimately, though, I don't think there is any sort of regular MU bar in town, and have been here 4 years.

Lame, well if anyone is ever in Laramie Wy. The Library is my usual haunt for games, so much so that the staff/patrons are often found cheering for MU

Yeah, we really need to get fans in the Frontrange organized...

wyoMUfan

agreed, we should plan a Saturday in Fort Collins or even Denver, there are tons of alumni around and I am sure many of them would love to meet up for a game if it wasn't too much of a hassle, and it was a good excuse to go out day drinking....

HylianHero

I agree! And I actually know of the Library in Laramie. I had some friends who loved that joke, "Tell your mom you went to the Library."

I would love to hang around with some MU fans in FoCo or Denver.

wyoMUfan

We should make a plan to meet up for a game. Id drive down to foco for the wisconsin game next saturday with some buddies, who's down?

rocky_warrior

I'd be up for that.  Though anybody know a good sports pub up there?

wyoMUfan

theres a few, not sure which one would be our best bet...i'll look into it

The Alumni club is hosting their annual MU-UW game watching party with the UW alumni club at Blake St. Tavern.  This is actually the one time per year that a lot of MU people come out of the woodwork, so I'll probably head over there.  Might be a good opportunity to try to organize more regular game watching opportunities.
