Lake Buena Vista, Fla. -- Lazar Hayward scored a game-high 27 points, and MU converted 20 turnovers into 25 points as the Golden Eagles defeated Xavier, 71-61, in the first round of the Old Spice Classic on Thursday afternoon at Disney's Milk House.

Jimmy Butler added 15 points and Maurice Acker 11 -- all in the second half -- as the Golden Eagles (5-0) outscored the Musketeers (3-1), 18-6, over the final 6 minutes 10 seconds. They'll face Michigan (3-0) in a semifinal matchup at 11 a.m. Friday.

The Wolverines beat Creighton, 83-76, in the opening game of the tournament.
