as a practical matter the intracity game is just a bigger deal in the local news, where it's likely to make an impression on people.

Chico,

I gotta ask - do folks in Bay View, Menomenee Falls, or Cudahy give a crap about this game? I think not.

As a resident of da Falls, I do not give a rat's a$$ about this game.

You folks put way too much stock in this game, and Chico's, you let your personal experience in the Marquette athletic department affect your judgement.  This game is not a big deal either way.  When the contract runs out, I am all in favor of continuing it without giving them a home game.  Other than that, UWM is a more interesting opponent than Centenary or Maryland-Eastern Shore.

The idea that the Marquette program is going to lose anything because of one loss to UWM is ridiculous.  One win against Wisconsin hardly vaulted their team ahead of them.  Casual fans are not going to start deciding to go to UWM games instead of Marquette games.  Marquette draws four times what UWM draws no matter the opponent.  As for UWM, they couldn't draw flies if they covered the court with fresh crap.

Losing recruits?  Are you F'ing kidding me?  The players Marquette is looking for are not looking at UWM.  Take a look at the current roster.  Nobody on it even heard of UWM before arriving at Marquette.  None of them are going to decide to go somewhere else because Marquette lost to a team they never heard of.  We did not lose any recruits as a result of losing to North Dakota State or Winthrop.  As for Wisconsin recruits, if they are going to decide based upon something as trivial as a loss in one game to a non-conference opponent, we are not getting them anyway.

UWM is irrelevant, but more entertaining than some other dog on the schedule.

Those aren't my comments, those are BBFran's.

UWM doesn't share a city with Wisconsin, the comparison isn't valid in my opinion.  Yes, part of my background with the department certainly colors my bias, but as I said before, several AD's (one who is the current AD at arguably one of the greatest NCAA BB schools of all time) have told me basically the same thing about scheduling.  I concur with their statements.

There remains ZERO upside in my opinion.  I don't know why we do it, why we bother to give them an ounce of love quite frankly.

And just wait if we lose one of the next three games and we don't offer them at LEAST one home game.  That, again, is the problem.  If we screw up once, then the demands get greater and greater.  Anything short of a sweep means they'll play this in the media more and more.  Just win the next three and tell them to enjoy life.....then avoid them for the next 40 years.  The "outrage" will go away quickly, I assure you.

Completely agree with you Chicos. There is no upside to this series for Marquette.

I do, however, see it getting renewed especially with former MU guy George Koonce being their AD.

as a resident of the falls I think the game is a fun one but Most people care more about the hs football team going to state (das whatsup). I don't believe the game makes a whole lot of sense for MU since there is little to nothing to gain if they win and a lot to deal with (especially from mark belling lackies if we lose)

Skatastrophy

When I was living downtown I was hoping that the series against UW-Shorewood would shut their alumni up, but now that I'm living in the suburbs I haven't run into anyone that has admitted to being a graduate.

I'd rather have another money game so that we could afford more gold free t-shirts for attendees of conference games.
